On May 25th, the Getting More Out of webinar series will present a session on vRealize Operations Manager 6.x – Full Stack Application Monitoring. As a preview, here are some highlights from the session and what you can do to prepare and get the most out of this session.
First, this session will focus on the capabilities of vRealize Operations Manager’s Endpoint Operations Management feature set to provide operating system and application level monitoring. These capabilities were formerly provided via vRealize Hyperic solution, but as of vRealize Operations Manager 6.1, this functionality is brought natively into the product.
The demo will be two major parts with some really cool automation thrown in for good measure.
FULL STACK MONITORING
In this session, there will be a live application running that will be monitored via vRealize Operations Manager. By the way, this application was provisioned using vRealize Automation with NSX networking. That will factor into the second part of the demonstration. There is a full set of material on the Getting More Out Of portal on vRealize Automation. Be sure to check it out.
As you can see from the example dashboard above, the application can be viewed from the virtual infrastructure to the HTTP response times of the web servers! All of your application’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are available in a single view. Also, alerts that pertain to the overall health of the application are available so that with one single view it is easy to find and isolate problems. This is just the beginning.
Check out the vCenter Self-Monitoring Solution for vRealize Operations Manager which provides visibility into your vCenter health and capacity usage as well as individual application components.
A list of Endpoint Operations solutions are available on Solution Exchange. In addition, check out some of the vRealize Operations Management Packs created by Blue Medora to provide full stack monitoring.
Application Log Monitoring
vRealize Log insight is also featured in this session where log data from this application is used to create a dashboard with interesting inputs. To learn more about Log Insight, check out Getting More Out of vRealize Log Insight: Whats New in v3.0 from December 2, 2015.
PROACTIVE MANAGEMENT
It’s really nice to be able to monitor an application from a single dashboard, but vRealize Operations Manager has so much more to offer. Interested in auto-scale? Be sure to stay for this part of the demonstration where an increase in user request on the web front end triggers vRealize Operations Manager to request the application scale out via vRealize Automation.
Application Dependencies
Don’t forget about the benefits of vRealize Infrastructure Navigator which is part of the vRealize Suite to discover application dependencies and provide topology mappings. The Management Pack for vRealize Infrastructure Navigator is required to take advantage of these benefits.
It’s not magic, it’s vRealize! You don’t want to miss this session. Join us on May 25th, where we will be answering your questions live about Full Stack Application Monitoring. Click here to register.
