If you already have VCP, and would like to acquire another VCP, you can use VCP Upgrade method.
On this post, I would like to show the VCP Upgrade in the same solution track.
You can acquire the newer version of VCP in the same solution track without taking another course or vSphere Foundations Exam. You can upgrade up to three version to directly acquire the latest version of VCP. Below is the overall image.
So the guidelines here are:
- Can skip course attendance and vSphere Foundations Exam.
- Up to Three-version upgrade is possible to acquire latest version VCP in the same solution track.
- Not capable of having Four or more version upgrade
- Need to pass the Elective VCP Exam to upgrade.
- For DCV track only, Delta Exam can also be used.
Let me show an example on each solution track.
For VCP-DCV solution track, if you are holding version 2019, 6.5, or 6, you can upgrade directly to VCP-DCV 2020 since they are within three-version. You need to pass either the existing exam already available or possibly be a new exam going to be released this year. Please note that if you’ve already taken and pass either Elective or Delta Exam before, another exam on the same product version is NOT applicable for upgrade. VCP5 or older certification version is not capable of upgrade thus need to go through the path for VCP for the first time.
For VCP-DTM solution track, if you are holding version 2019, 2018, or 7, you can upgrade directly to VCP-DTM 2020 since they are within three-version. VCP6-DTM is also allowed to upgrade this year for an exception. You need to pass either the existing exam already available or possibly be a new exam going to be released this year. VCP5 or older certification version is not capable of upgrade thus need to go through the path for VCP for the first time.
For VCP-CMA solution track, if you are holding version 2019, 7, or 6, you can upgrade directly to VCP-CMA 2020 since they are within three-version. VCP-Cloud is also allowed to upgrade this year for an exception. You need to pass either the existing exam already available or possibly be a new exam going to be released this year.
For VCP-NV solution track, if you are holding version 2019 or 6, you can upgrade directly to VCP-NV 2020 since they are within three-version. You need to pass either the existing exam already available or possibly be a new exam going to be released this year. Either exam of NSX for vSphere or NSX-T can be used.
For VCP-DW solution track, if you are holding version 2019 or 2018, you can upgrade directly to VCP-DW 2020 since they are within three-version. You need to pass either the existing exam already available or possibly be a new exam going to be released this year.
