VCP 2024 for the first time

If you are going for a VCP for the first time, you basically have to first attend a Required Course, take vSphere Foundations Exam, and VCP Elective Exams at last. Below is the overall image of the steps.

 

Steps to acquire a VCP for the first time:

  1. Attend a required course
  2. Take VCP Elective Exam
    • Take the corresponding VCP Exam.
    • Exam can be the existing exam already available or possibly be a new exam going to be released this year.

Note: vSphere Foundations Exam and Delta Exam are no longer available.

 

It is recommended to attend the required course first and take the exam the next. However, the steps do NOT have to be in this order. Even though the order is mixed, the certification can be acquired when all the requirements were met eventually and detected those in the system in the same account.

 

 

 

Here is an example for VCP-DCV.

 

For the required courses, you need to choose and attend one of the courses in the list. It can be in either ILT, Live Online, or On Demand format with the same course name.

The list below is as of February 2024.

 

vSphere: [V8] courses

  • Install, Configure, Manage
  • Operate, Scale and Secure
  • Troubleshooting
  • Fast Track
  • Advanced Administration

vSphere: [V7] courses

  • Install, Configure, Manage
  • Optimize and Scale
  • Troubleshooting
  • Fast Track
  • Optimize and Scale plus Troubleshooting Fast Track
  • Advanced Administration Workshop

 

You also need to take and pass one of the exams.

The list below is as of February 2024.

  • VMware vSphere 8.x Professional (2V0-21.23)

  • Professional VMware vSphere 7.x (2V0-21.20) (Retired on January 31st, 2024)

You also need to take and pass one of the exams.

  • VMware NSX 4.x Professional V2 (2V0 – 41.24)

  • VMware NSX 4.x Professional (2V0-41.23) (Retiring soon on June 30, 2024)

There are two options to acquire the certification.

 

Option 1: Aria Automation

 

For the required courses, you need to choose and attend one of the courses in the list. It can be in either ILT, Live Online, or On Demand format with the same course name.

  • Advanced Topics [V8.14]

 

You also need to take and pass one of the exams.

Option 2: vRealize Automation

 

For the required courses, you need to choose and attend one of the courses in the list. It can be in either ILT, Live Online, or On Demand format with the same course name.

You also need to take and pass one of the exams.

Here is an example for NEW Role-Based Certification: VMware Certified – Cloud Infrastructure Administrator recently added.

 

There is no required course attendance (as of February 2024).

However, there is a list recommended courses you can attend thus please consider attending it.
