If you already have VCAP, and would like to acquire another VCAP, you can do so by going through the Upgrade method.
On this post, I would like to show the Upgrade on the same solution track.
You can take the newer version of VCAP in the same solution track, without taking another corresponding VCP certification. You can upgrade up to three version (or from VCAP6 or above) to directly acquire the latest version of VCAP. Below is the overall image.
So the guidelines here are:
- Able to acquire the newer version of VCAP in the same solution track
- Not required to hold a corresponding VCP
- Up to Three-version (or from VCAP6 and above) upgrade is possible
- Not capable of Four or more version upgrade
- Can upgrade to either Deploy or Design certification from Deploy or Design certification you are holding
- An exam you’ve already taken and pass before is NOT applicable for upgrade.
Let me show an example on each solution track.
The diagram below is upgrade in VCAP-DCV solution track. If you have either VCAP-DCV Design or Deploy within three version (or VCAP6 or above), you can upgrade to either VCAP-DCV Deploy 2020 or VCAP-DCV Design 2020 by passing the corresponding exam. VCP-DCV with the same version is not required for the upgrade. There is no direct upgrade path from VCAP5 or VCAP4 thus please take a step for VCAP 2020 for the first time here.
The diagram below is upgrade in VCAP-DTM solution track. If you have either VCAP-DTM Design or Deploy within three version (or VCAP6 or above), you can upgrade to either VCAP-DTM Deploy 2020 or VCAP-DTM Design 2020 by passing the corresponding exam. VCP-DTM with the same version is not required for the upgrade.
The diagram below is upgrade in VCAP-CMA solution track. If you have either VCAP-CMA Design or Deploy within three version (or VCAP6 or above), you can upgrade to either VCAP-CMA Deploy 2020 or VCAP-CMA Design 2020 by passing the corresponding exam. VCP-CMA with the same version is not required for the upgrade.
The diagram below is upgrade in VCAP-NV solution track. If you have either VCAP-NV Design or Deploy within three version (or VCAP6 or above), you can upgrade to either VCAP-NV Deploy 2020 or VCAP-NV Design 2020 by passing the corresponding exam. VCP-NV with the same version is not required for the upgrade.
