Did you know that in order to upgrade your VCP certification, it needs to be within Three-version from the last VCP version. See the latest Upgrade Policy announced here.
Which means, if you miss the right timing, you’ll not be able to upgrade your VCP. The new VCP certification version is released every January 1st of each year. Please plan to upgrade your VCP before it got too late!
Here is the overall image of which VCP certification is capable / not capable of upgrade this year.
Based on the current upgrade policy, for anyone holding the following VCP certification as the latest version, this year 2020 may be a last chance for you to upgrade your VCP certification.
- VCP6-DCV
- VCP7-DTM
- VCP6-DTM (VCP6-DT)
- VCP6-CMA (VCP6-Cloud)
- VCP-Cloud
Please refer to the Upgrade section on Paths to acquire VCP 2020 post here for which path you can use to upgrade your VCP.
For anyone holding the following VCP certification as the latest version, unfortunately there is no upgrade path available.
- VCP5-DCV
- VCP4/3/2
- VCP5-DT
- VCP4-DT
You have to go through VCP 2020 for the first time path (course attendance, vSphere Foundations Exam, and VCP Exam) to acquire new VCP version.
For other VCP versions, there is no urgent upgrade required based on the current policy unless if there will be a policy change anytime in the future. So, if you think this is a great timing to upgrade, please do so now!
See you at the next post!
(The above paths and requirements are as of February 2020. These can be changed without prior notice.)
