Click here for see all the paths to acquire VCP & VCAP (VCIX) certification.
If you already have VCAP, and would like to acquire another VCAP, you can do so by going through the Upgrade process.
On this post, I would like to show the Upgrade on the different solution track.
Unlike the Upgrade on the same solution track, there is no path to directly upgrade to the other solution track. You have to acquire the corresponding VCP first and take the target VCAP exam, just like the path of VCAP for the first time (link). Below is the overall image.
Note: The following certification(s) has not been released yet (as of July, 2018). It is shown in the diagram as just an example.
- VCAP6.5-DCV Deploy
- VCAP7-DTM Deploy
- VCAP7-CMA Deploy
So the guidelines here are:
- No direct upgrade path to the different solution track
- Need to go through the path of VCAP Certification for the first time:
- Earn VCP first on the different solution track (same version/track of target VCAP)
- Take and pass the target VCAP exam
For acquiring new VCP, refer to the Paths to acquire VCP and VCAP here.
Please note that if you acquire new VCAP certification, it will also re-certify active VCP certification(s).
Let me show you some examples.
The diagram below is upgrade from the active VCAP6-DTM Design to VCAP6-NV Deploy. This upgrade is NOT possible since the candidate is not certified as the corresponding VCP, in this case VCP6-NV. Currently, there is no direct path to upgrade to the different solution track.
The diagram below is upgrade from the active VCAP6-DTM Design to VCAP6-NV Deploy, same case as the above. This upgrade is possible since the candidate is certified as the corresponding VCP6-NV certification.
The diagram below is upgrade from the active VCAP6-DCV Design to VCAP7-DTM Deploy, with VCP(s) already expired. This upgrade is possible by newly acquiring the corresponding VCP, in this case VCP7-DTM. VCAP will be eventually certified but VCP(s) already expired will not be re-certified.
See you at the next post!
(The above paths and requirements are as of July, 2018. These can be changed without prior notice.)
