If you have a certification from Cisco such as CCIE, and would like to acquire VCAP-NV certification, you can use your proof of the Cisco certification to skip VCP-NV requirement.
The guidelines here are:
- Can skip required VCP-NV, which means it can also skip attending required course and vSphere Foundations Exam
- Need to Submit the proof of CCIE certification
- Need to take and pass VCAP exam
- Can use to acquire either Deploy or Design certification
- Does not apply to other solution tracks (DCV, DTM, CMA, or DW)
The diagram below is the overall image. To acquire VCAP-NV certification, you usually have to acquire VCP-NV first but can skip that by submitting the proof of the Cisco certification.

- Go to VCAP-NV certification page
- VCAP-NV Deploy 2020 (https://www.vmware.com/education-services/certification/vcap-nv-deploy.html)
- VCAP-NV Design 2020 (https://www.vmware.com/education-services/certification/vcap-nv-design.html)
- On Certification Path if you hold dropdown list, select “a Cisco certification”
- Expand “Submit proof that you hold an Active/Non-Expired Cisco CCIE certification”
- Click “Submit proof”
