Finally…

Finally the face-to-face VCAP Bootcamp has been Rebooted here in Japan! Please give us a round of applause! lol

After about five months that Japan decided to downgrade COVID-19 to Class 5, the same as the common infections disease like the seasonal flu, we would like to make this event a proof that we VMware Learning Japan overcome the pandemic! Please take a look on how the Bootcamp was like in the following blog!

Just like the last VCAP Bootcamp we held before the pandemic, we’ve held this event “just a little” deep in the mountains in Yamanashi Prefecture. We can find the mountains in distance since there are no tall buildings blocking the views. There seems to be a sacred atmosphere around… with horses on the closest train station lol There is actually an equestrian (horse riding) arena nearby thus there might be a chance to see a real horse.

The bootcamp was held on a venue of the hotel, the second floor of this cylinder shaped building. We had placed VMware Learning (Education) pennant flag on the entrance of the first floor. This is the way that the attendees don’t get lost 🙂

This is how it was inside the venue. Everyone is listening to the instructor talking. I actually was an instructor that week. I’m sure you’ve noticed a good looking guy standing in the front of everyone lol

The content of the bootcamp this time was like a Fast Track course for preparing on the VCAP exam. We had combined the multiple training courses which could be 10 days total but had squeeze those content and topics into 5 days with a high density.

There were a lot of lectures and labs needed to go through which made some students required to be in the venue until the late in the evening to run lab exercises. Since there was a wireless Wi-FI network provided in the hotel, some students ran lab exercises after they went back to their hotel rooms. (The lab environment can be connected anywhere through the internet) The students indeed pushed themselves to run and complete those contents. Well done everyone!!

There had been seasonal Halloween events holding during the bootcamp period. The green on the sacred mountains is worthy and also the orange of pumpkins is eye candy. Noticed a rhyme there? 😉 We’ve also held a Farewell Dinner for the students communication as well as to let them once again giving an opportunity to make up their mind to take and pass the VCAP exam and certification.

Here is a picture of us which we took on the last day under such a wonderful fair skies!

Can you feel their accomplishment from their smile for surviving the bootcamp? They are having “V” of VCAP in their hand lol

I’m sure that the students will spent more time reviewing and preparing for taking the VCAP exam after this. It would be a difficult journey but we know they are going to make it! There’s actually an exam voucher comes with this bootcamp course thus some students may have taken the exam already. Please let us know how it went and let us join your congratulations!

The last time we held the VCAP Bootcamp was in December, 2019 before the pandemic started in Japan. After 3 years and 9 months from that, we’re very happy to be able to held the bootcamp in the same place again!

We are also planning for other bootcamps which is VCAP-DCV Deploy 2023 Bootcamp in the mid-October and VCAP-DCV Design Bootcamp in the end-December. Hoping to see many attendees there also!

Just to share that on the way back in the train station, there was “Fresh” Shingen Mochi (a sticky rice cake with sweet soybeans power, famous treat in Yamanashi Prefecture) available in the store. I couldn’t manage to get this before the pandemic since it was sold-out all the time. I was hoping to get one this time! The result was …

Finally I was managed to get one! I went to the store early in the morning on the last day and able to get one before it sold-out! Indeed it was “Fresh” and having different taste and texture compared with the common Shingen Mochi. Please try it out if you have a chance. It was also having a good WAF, Wife Acceptance Factor, as well 🙂

I will go for “Waterly” Shingen Mochi next time. The thing is, it is only available in Summer … Hope I can get it next year lol

See you in the next post!
