VCIX is a milestone for having both VCAP Design and Deploy certification.
So the guidelines here are:
- Earn VCIX when certified on both Deploy and Design VCAP on the same solution track
- Combination of the different versions can be used
- Combination of the different solution tracks can NOT be used
- Needs the combination of Design and Deploy. Having multiple VCAP Deploy certifications or multiple VCAP Design certifications won’t count.
- VCAP6 and above can be used earn VCIX
- If certified as VCIX in the past, it can be upgraded by acquiring either of Design or Deploy certification
- Earning VCAP-NV Deploy certification will also gives VCIX-NV status as an exception for having only NSX for vSphere VCAP Deploy exam. (This policy will be re-considered after NSX-T VCAP Deploy exam got released)
Let me show an example on each solution track.
The diagram below show paths to earn VCIX-DCV. If you have either of Deploy or Design certification, you need to acquire the other one to earn VCIX. If you already have a VCIX on older version, you can acquire either of new Deploy or Design certification to upgrade VCIX. Please note that if you hold VCAP5 or VCAP4, these cannot be use to earn VCIX.
The diagram below show paths to earn VCIX-DTM. If you have either of Deploy or Design certification, you need to acquire the other one to earn VCIX. If you already have a VCIX on older version, you can acquire either of new Deploy or Design certification to upgrade VCIX.
The diagram below show paths to earn VCIX-CMA. If you have either of Deploy or Design certification, you need to acquire the other one to earn VCIX. If you already have a VCIX on older version, you can acquire either of new Deploy or Design certification to upgrade VCIX.
The diagram below show paths to earn VCIX-NV. If you have either of Deploy or Design certification, you need to acquire the other one to earn VCIX. If you already have a VCIX on older version, you can acquire either of new Deploy or Design certification to upgrade VCIX. There is an exception that if you have acquired VCAP-NV Deploy by passing NSX for vSphere Deploy exam, it will automatically earn VCIX-NV without VCAP-NV Design certification. This path will be re-considered after NSX-T VCAP Deploy exam got released.
