VMware The Most Deployed Hyperconverged Infrastructure, According to 451 Research

VMware is pleased to announce 451 Research has proven VMware to be the market leader in hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI)! We’re excited to see more 2.5x more organizations select vSAN for their digital transformation than the second largest vendor. Almost two-thirds of organizations that adopted hyperconverged infrastructure have adopted VMware vSAN. VMware The Most Selected Hyperconverged Solution by Customers

In 2018, 451 Research looked at hyperconverged infrastructure market share two ways: which vendors are organizations using, and which HCI vendor is used primarily.

With overall adoption, 451’s Research revealed significant vSAN market share growth. In their 2017 report, Voice of the Enterprise: Servers and Converged Infrastructure, Vendor Evaluations 2017, 451 noted that vSAN had been adopted by 47.5% of HCI users; however, this year’s Voice of the Enterprise report shows that VMware increased adoption to 65% of all HCI users, growing over 35% year over year.

Acknowledging that some organizations have adopted multiple HCI vendors, 451 Research also asked which HCI vendor is primarily used in the data center, and VMware leads with 45% of HCI users adopting vSAN as their primary solution, which is 2.5x greater than the closest competitor.

The Voice of the Enterprise: Servers and Converged Infrastructure, Vendor Evaluations 2018 survey wave was completed during the months of August and September 2018. The survey represents approximately 750 completes from pre-qualified IT decision-makers. Respondents came from all regions of the globe, across industries and across sizes.

The top three criteria for hyperconverged vendor selection remained similar year over year and provide clues as to why VMware remains the preferred hyperconverged infrastructure solution provider.

VMware Reduces Storage Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by 40% on Average

A recent study of VMware vSAN deployments by IDC, Learning from Companies That Use VMware vSAN to Address Today’s Most Pressing Datacenter Challenges, showed significant TCO reductions. IDC surveyed over 100 VMware vSAN users and found a 40% mean TCO reduction, with a third of survey respondents pointing to a greater than 50% reduction in TCO. In addition, TCO reductions tended to increase with the size of the organization as well as the number of vSAN customers deployed.   Hyperconverged infrastructure

VMware is Investing Heavily in Customer Support

In addition, VMware has made significant investments in people, analytics and technology to improve the ReadyCare experience. In the last year, VMware introduced Support Insight, a next-generation platform for analytics of health, configuration, and performance telemetry. Its purpose is to help vSAN users maintain a reliable and consistent computing, storage and network environment. VMware also introduced a cloud-based health check, or proactive configuration and state checks, which are built into vSAN workflows. The vSAN Health Service now includes over fifty health checks and growing. By shifting to cloud-based health checks, additional checks can be added regularly and are not dependent on a new version of vSAN being deployed. In the most recent release, VMware introduced new tools that expedite support resolution by making critical information easy for support teams to access, eliminating the need for logs in some cases.
