We announced vRealize Operations 7.0 some time back. Today, we are also excited to announce the support readiness of vRealize Operations Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.0. VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for vCloud Director monitors the health of supported vCloud Director entities and sends early warning alerts for monitored Provider Virtual Data Center (VDC) objects.
vRealize Operations Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.0
It is an add on management pack for vRealize Operations Manager specifically designed for vCloud Director. This management pack monitors the health of supported vCloud Director entities and sends early warning smart alerts for monitored vCloud Director resources. It also helps in capacity planning use cases, billing and chargeback.
Important feature in 5.0 release:
- Additional storage elements: The vCloud Director management pack can discover various catalog elements such as, media files, vApp Templates from vCloud Director along with the associated Organization vDC and storage capacity (GB).
- Services associated with Edge Gateway: Ability to collect the network services such as, distributed firewall, IPSec, DNS and so on, associated with specific edge gateway. Also, provides the traffic statistics and status (if the service is enabled or disabled during a specific time)

Providers and Customers can now Manage their Environment
With the new vRealize Operations Manager Tenant App, Service Providers can now provide a view of the infrastructure to their customer that is locked down at each Tenant level. Customers can see utilization and performance their resources directly within the vCloud Director interface.

Billing and Chargeback support
- Chargeback is now integrated natively in the Tenant App. Meter usage and allocation and extract data via UI or API.
- Provider can define pricing policies or rate cards globally or per tenant and map those policies to Organization VDCs.
- Generate bills or use API to pull data for input into your billing system
- Cloud Provider multi-tenancy – reporting/data available to provider but can also be exposed to tenants
- SSO authentication with vCloud Director eliminates the need to login to Tenant App
Define Pricing Policies unique to each tenant or globally.
Map Pricing Policies to Organization VDCs allows customize pricing per tenant.
Generate Bills based on utilization and pricing policy.
View Bills for all tenants and allow tenants to see their own bills.
