All-in-one virtual desktops and apps solution bundles now offer VMware Horizon Apps and NVIDIA GRID technology.
When VDI Complete was first introduced at Dell EMC World in May, it was lauded for revolutionizing virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) by offering an end-to-end solution that is simple to purchase, deploy, manage and scale and that is supported directly by a single enterprise original equipment manufacturer (OEM) vendor. Industry analysts also liked the ability to pay as you go, in addition to more traditional prepay options.
VDI Complete Solutions solve the tough problems that held VDI adoption back in the past by providing a reliable, consolidated VDI offering. And now, Dell is expanding the VDI Complete offering by including options based on VMware Horizon Apps and NVIDIA GRID technology.
What Is VDI Complete?
For those new to VDI Complete, let’s back up and level set (or read my previous blog here). VDI Complete is a new series of bundled offers from Dell EMC that includes everything a customer needs for a VMware hyper-converged infrastructure solution for VDI.

VDI Complete Solutions include Dell EMC hyper-converged appliances, VMware Horizon software for virtual desktops and applications and an extensive array of optional endpoint solutions from Dell. The solutions are prevalidated, offered at an aggressive price point and supported end to end by a single company.
Additionally, the solution is highly customizable depending on the needs of the organization. VDI Complete charts provides starting points for specific hardware configurations and prices that can then be modified for specific needs.
What’s New for VDI Complete?
VMware Horizon Apps
We’ve seen tremendous interest in VDI Complete from customers. Many also told us that while they need to provide their users access to business-critical Windows applications, they don’t necessarily need to provide them with full virtual desktops. We listened.
Organizations that need only published applications can choose a solution based on Horizon Apps to publish business-critical Windows apps from the data center. They can tie these apps together in a unified workspace alongside—Software-as-a-Service (SaaS )and mobile apps—which can be accessed through authentication from any device or operating system (OS) with single sign-on.
NVIDIA GRID Technology
Need high-performance graphics? NVIDIA GRID technology delivers high-performance virtualized graphics and a rich, immersive experience to the digital workspace.
NVIDIA recently announced NVIDIA Quadro Virtual Data Center Workstation Software, promising to lower total cost of ownership by providing high-end performance to multiple enterprise users from the same GPU. What’s more, Horizon 7.3 will feature additional integration between VMware and NVIDIA software, so administrators can monitor GPU metrics through VMware vRealize Operations, make appropriate profile allocation recommendations and tune the VDI environment for the best performance.
