Since VMware launched VMware Cloud on AWS in 2017, customers have rapidly and cost-effectively modernized their applications, migrated applications to the cloud, recovered from disasters and ransomware, extended their datacenters, and delivered virtual desktops with an overall 351% three-year ROI. IHS Markit, ZENRIN Datacom, and Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District are just a few of the customers utilizing and reaping the benefits of VMware Cloud on AWS.
A key contributor to VMware Cloud on AWS’s success is VMware vSAN™. With over 30,000 customers across on-premises datacenters, public clouds, and ROBO/edge deployments, and recently recognized for the fifth time as a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Hyperconverged Infrastructure Software, VMware vSAN is the bedrock storage for VMware Cloud on AWS. Tightly integrated with VMware vSphere®, vSAN has a highly optimized data I/O path to provide the highest levels of performance with minimal impact on CPU and memory. Building on vSAN’s industry-leading market success, VMware’s continued investment in ground-breaking vSAN innovations will deliver new customer value – stay tuned!
Building on vSAN’s industry-leading market success, VMware’s continued investment in ground-breaking vSAN innovations will deliver new customer value.
To further extend application support for VMware Cloud on AWS, we recently announced the preview of VMware Cloud Flex Storage™ – a new VMware-managed, disaggregated cloud storage service – to supplement vSAN. (vSAN is the primary storage, and Cloud Flex Storage is a new supplemental storage option.) Built on an enterprise-class filesystem developed and production-hardened over many years, it enables storage-bound workloads to access more storage capacity without adding additional hosts. Customers can elastically scale capacity up or down as needed, with its two-tier filesystem design, and get the flexibility of a pay-as-you-go consumption model.
VMware vSAN and VMware Cloud Flex Storage are both essential to offering customers greater flexibility and value in terms of resilience, performance, scale, and cost.
We are very excited to provide broader application support for VMware Cloud on AWS customers with VMware vSAN + VMware Cloud Flex Storage. The two solutions are both essential to offering customers greater flexibility and value in terms of resilience, performance, scale, and cost.
