VMware Aria VMware Aria Operations for Logs

What’s New in Aria Operations for Logs 8.12

We have a new version of Aria Operations for Logs that has been released with a few cool new features to go over. Besides rebranding vRealize Log Insight to Aria Operations for Logs, we also have introduced a new configuration for future federated log querying between SaaS and on-prem, support for more index partitions, and some content pack updates.

Aria Operations for Logs Rebrand

When you first navigate to your upgraded logs instance, you’ll notice that all mentions of vRealize Log Insight have been changed to Aria Operations for logs. This rebrand has been long in the works, as we move to unify our management products under one comprehensive set of multi-cloud solutions.

Aria Operations for Logs Federated Queries

In our May release of Aria Operations for Logs SaaS, we will be introducing federated queries between SaaS and on-prem. This will allow Aria Operations for Logs SaaS customers to seamlessly query their on-prem Aria Logs instance under a single unified instance of log explorer. To prepare for that, we have a new integration page in this release that lets you connect on-prem to SaaS via an API key, so you can start querying events from on-prem once we release the feature for Aria Operations for Logs SaaS.

Support for 10 Index Partitions

In this release we have increased the number of index partitions that are allowed to be created to 10. This makes for more flexibility in keeping important log data, and less having to choose what to retain and what to drop when you have strict log retention requirements.

Updated Content Packs & RHEL 9 Agent Support

We have also updated the content packs with new names for VMware Aria Operations, Orchestrator, Automation, Lifecycle Manager and Air Operations for Networks. We also now support Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 for our Aria Operations for Logs OS agent.

Expiring Certificate Fix

We have fixed an expiring internal certificate issue in this version of Aria Operations for Logs that could impact functionality if not properly addressed. We have a fix for older versions of Aria Operations for Logs detailed here in this knowledge base article, but we recommend upgrading to this latest version to avoid the complexities of replacing the internal certificates.

That’s everything we have to mention for this new release of Aria Operations for Logs. Start your downloads, and as always feedback is always recommended and welcome!
