In recent years, more and more VMware Horizon customers have come to rely on VMware vRealize Operations for Horizon to provide end-to-end visibility into the health, performance and efficiency of their Horizon, as well as Citrix, virtual desktop and application environments—from the data center to the devices. And we’re about to pump up those reliable metrics even more.

Expanding on our existing partnership, VMware and NVIDIA have been working closely to integrate key NVIDIA virtual GPU metrics into the vRealize Operations for Horizon solution. This integration will enable Horizon administrators to gain greater insights and trend data on user sessions, as well as performance metrics of NVIDIA GPU products—including NVIDIA GRID vPC and NVIDIA Quadro Virtual Data Center Workstation Software—deployed with Horizon 7 virtual desktops and apps.

Specifically, when deployed with the vRealize Operations for NVIDIA management pack, vRealize Operations for Horizon dashboards will expand to support the following use cases:

1. The Horizon Overview dashboard provides the administrator an overall view of Horizon and alerts from NVIDIA virtual GPU products. In addition to performance metrics for the Horizon pod, administrators will also receive performance and optimization alerts from NVIDIA that could potentially impact a user or deployment.

2. The Horizon Help Desk dashboard provides session-specific GPU utilization, GPU memory usage and encode metrics, GPU type and user-specific alerts from GRID.

Built-in dashboards offer administrators insights into key user and session metrics.

3. The User Experience Monitoring dashboard includes a “weather map,” or “heat map,” for GPU use cycle and memory, warning administrators of performance degradation before users are impacted.

A “heat map” view provides a visual warning before performance degradation impacts users.
