This August, the VMware flagship conference VMworld 2019 will again take place in San Francisco at the Moscone Center. A highlight of the event this year will be the Virtualizing Applications customer workshops.
This is the 4th consecutive year that this elite program has been offered as an extended learning opportunity for the attendees of VMworld. There will be 6 separate workshops , each of which is focused on a specific technology or application, running on VMware Technologies.
Subjects as diverse as Oracle, SAP, Microsoft SQL Server , Active Directory, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and “VMware vSphere Advanced Performance Design, Configuration & Troubleshooting” session will be repeated this year in a 4-hour format.
Each of these workshops will be delivered by a prominent lead instructor, as well as a list of expert guest instructors from both inside and outside VMware. These workshops are filled with practical experience and advice from industry experts that thrive in these technology areas every day.
There will be a short break of 30 minutes during the workshop for lunch which will be provided.
Please check for actual start times for these workshops in the VMware Content Catalog.
Starting 2019 , these sessions are made available as part of the session catalog , so be sure to add the workshop to your list of session selected.
There are a limited number of seats, to ensure many opportunities for attendee participation and they are on a first come first serve basis. Don’t miss your chance, register early!

Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) is one of the most critical components of a Windows IT infrastructure. Most operations and functionalities in an Enterprise Microsoft Windows infrastructure depend on a robust, scalable, redundant and reliable Active Directory infrastructure. While most enterprises have adopted virtualization as the standard platform for their mission critical applications in production, many enterprise administrators and operators are still reluctant to virtualize Domain Controllers in their environments.
VMware’s Microsoft Applications Virtualization Lead (Deji Akomolafe) will deliver the workshop. He will take you through the journey of virtualizing AD DS, avoiding common pitfalls, and recovering from common failures and problems associated with running Active Directory Domain Services in your enterprises. Demos include hands-on troubleshooting, correction, stabilization and optimization of a defective AD DS forest and multiple domains. Topics include, virtualization and the AD DS Database, replication, time synchronization and convergence, Fault domains, common challenge and general Best Practices.

In the first part of this workshop, you will learn about the concepts of machine learning (ML), including inference and training, supervised and unsupervised learning, and deep learning. Bring your laptop to build a neural network model yourself. Gain an understanding of how ML works and what types of problems can be solved with these techniques. You will also see a demo of a data science automation tool to illustrate how ML is used by data scientists. The second part of the workshop will focus on the IT infrastructure needed to support ML, including a detailed discussion of the ways specialized hardware accelerators such as GPUs are enabled on VMware vSphere, along with a discussion of ML performance. Learn about the role of Apache Spark and Hadoop in supporting machine learning.
