Become a true ESXi expert with the new FREE VMware eLearning course and ebook offer!

Great news for all VMware customers: the VMware Education Services team has just made available a new, FREE elearning course dedicated to ESXi , “Transition to ESXi Essentials”. The course is a self-paced three-hour online training that provides the knowledge necessary to make fundamental design decisions to successfully add VMware ESXi to a vSphere environment and to take advantage of all of the new features included in ESXi 4.1. The training is ideal for system administrators, consultants and engineers responsible for managing and supporting a vSphere environment.

But it doesn’t end here! By completing the Transition to ESXi Essentials course and the short survey that follows at the end, you will also receive a FREE ebook copy of “VMware ESXi: Planning, Implementation, and Security authored by Dave Mishchenko and edited by VMware technical experts. Dave’s book is truly a phenomenal resource for all VMware users to learn everything there is to know about ESXi. While the Transition to ESXi Essentials course will remain available for free in the VMware Education Services portal, we’ll be able to also offer Dave’s book for free only while supplies last. So, hurry up, complete the training and turn in your survey as soon as possible!

For those of you who want to get a more direct hands-on experience on ESXi, VMware Education Services continues to offer an in-depth instructor-led two day course (in this case for a fee). Here is the link to class schedule and registration.

As you all know very well by now, 4.1 is the last release for ESX. Future releases of vSphere – starting with the next one – will only be based on the ESXi hypervisor architecture. Needless to say, now is the time to ramp up your expertise about ESXi and how to take advantage of its unique capabilities. The training options discussed above are just a couple of the several resources you can leverage to learn about ESXi. Others that are strongly recommended to help you become the ultimate ESXi expert are:

How can you run out of copies of an ebook?! Can't you virtualize it further?!

Mike

When do I receive info on how to redeem the eBook?

Thanks.

Shane, you'll get the access code and the info on how to gt the book within a couple of weeks of when you completed the course and the survey.

Thanks for your patience.

Any ebooks left? I just found out about this!

Thanks Alberto! :)

Yes please,

I couldn't find the link to get the ebook ?

The access code for ebook will be send to the email address of your myLearn account once you completed the course and the follow on survey. Look for an email with subject:
Your free ebook copy of “VMware ESXi: Planning, Implementation, and Security”

am waiting for this book

Didn't get a questionnaire. What do I need to do to be able to get the book, now?

Me neither, I completed the course, but no survey after that

The link to the survey is in the last slide of the training. You need to complete the training and the survey to get the book

Where is the link to this course?

Med,
the link to registration is in the blog post. Click on "Transition to ESXi Essentials" , then add course to your enrollments and log in myLearn

What is not mentioned is that you cannot download the ebook from what I can see... you have to be online to view it... almost makes it useless.

I agree with Ben, this is useless. You promised we would receive a Free copy, not allow online access to it with registration for another website. Very disappointing.

I was also disappointed to find out that I didn't get a copy of the ebook, just online access.

I wanted to have it available on my Nook Color to read offline.

We just bought and deployed VMware ESX 4.0 and as we were deploying we upgraded to ESX 4.1 and then I went to training. I found out that ESX 4.1 was the last supported ESX version and we need to move to ESXi 4.1 so I was excited when I saw the information for a FREE calss and eBook on this. I clicked on it but the class I got to was not free. How disappointing!

Paul, I am not sure what you saw but I think you missed something. The online class "Transition to ESXi Essentials" that we talk about in the blog is absolutely free - no question about it. Please follow the link the in the blog to access it.

I follow the link and try to register the online course, but it showd Class Price*: $ 1495 (USD) + Tax (if applicable)
