IDC Data Shows VMware is the #1 HCI Software Vendor

The latest IDC Converged Systems Tracker shows that VMware continues to outpace the market and its competition, with 10.71% year-over-year growth from 2021 to 2022. VMware vSAN is not only the most adopted HCI software but stands as the sole vendor to surpass 1 billion dollars in revenue each quarter of 2022.

We believe the introduction of vSAN 8 and the revolutionary new Express Storage Architecture this year showcases our continued commitment to innovation in the HCI industry, and we’re pleased to see it is received by IT leaders continuing to choose VMware.

VMware Continues to Invest in HCI Innovation

VMware vSAN brings the power of multi-cloud to our customer’s storage with vSphere integration for consistent application performance and high consolidation ratios. We enable them to meet today’s business requirements with agile Hyperconverged Infrastructure that allows them to scale flexibly with subscription licensing, simplify operations with highly automated workflows and cloud services, accelerate time-to-market and reduce costs.

Last year, we introduced vSAN Express Storage Architecture—the industry’s first single-tier HCI storage solution—ushering in the next generation of hyperconverged infrastructure. This new architecture is designed to optimally leverage high-performance storage devices, providing up to 4x performance boosts. Advanced compression algorithms enable up to 4x better compression, furthering storage efficiency and contributing to a TCO reduction of up to 40%. vSAN ESA features scalable, native snapshots for improved backups and enhancements that reduce fault domains and improve data durability and availability.

Building off the success of vSAN 8 and the Express Storage Architecture, we recently announced the upcoming release of vSAN 8 Update 1. We’re thrilled to continue revolutionizing this solution, enabling customers to take advantage of modern, high-performance devices which provide new performance levels, scalability, resilience, and simplicity. We look forward to the continued data center transformation vSAN will enable in 2023.
