Tanzu Platform 10.3 Delivers the AI-Native Engine for Developer Velocity and Platform Control

Broadcom announces general availability of Tanzu Platform 10.3, unifying AI-native app delivery with enterprise-scale platform control.

In organizations around the globe, the definition of “modern application” continues to rapidly evolve. Organizations aren’t just building software anymore; they’re building intelligent systems that learn, adapt, and operate to keep up with the pace of business. In this era where every company is becoming an AI company, success now hinges on two things: making it incredibly easy for application teams to access the innovation they need, and giving platform teams the visibility and control they need to manage the complexity and risk that comes with it.

VMware Tanzu Platform helps organizations meet these challenges head-on, providing a pre-engineered, secure, and AI-ready application platform that accelerates development, enforces consistency, and keeps operations under control. At VMware Explore 2025 in Las Vegas, we unveiled Tanzu Platform 10.3, and now, are thrilled to announce general availability.

This latest release provides organizations with the tools they need to accelerate AI adoption, leverage AI tooling and coding assistants, and maintain essential trust, governance, and security. With enhanced observability, improved security transparency, new service publishing capabilities, and robust AI governance, Tanzu Platform 10.3 empowers enterprises to confidently transition from AI experimentation to production, combining rapid innovation with the stability of a proven platform.

In case you missed our preview announcement in August, here are highlights of four key capabilities in Tanzu Platform 10.3 that can deliver immediate business value for your organization.

Key highlights of Tanzu Platform 10.3

This release focuses on simplifying application onboarding, centralizing service health, improving risk visibility, and streamlining foundation management.

App onboarding and modernization

Tackling technical debt and migrating legacy systems is a major barrier to innovation. Tanzu Platform 10.3 simplifies the discovery, analysis, modernization, and onboarding of your entire application portfolio.

  • The capability: Tanzu Platform now conducts app portfolio assessments, analyzing application repositories and technical debt. Integrated tooling provides developers with automated upgrade plans and best practice recommendations for Spring applications. App onboarding guidance is expanded for Java, .NET, GraalVM, J2EE, NodeJS, and Python apps.
  • The impact: For developers and application teams, this simplifies the modernization process, freeing up valuable time previously spent on manual evaluation and mapping dependencies. For platform engineering teams, this enables a clear, data-driven strategy for reducing operational burden and lowering the costs that are associated with running outdated systems.

Radical security transparency with vulnerability insights

Providing a detailed view of an organization’s risk exposure is non-negotiable for compliance and governance. This release centralizes security intelligence, giving platform teams a clear, actionable view of risk.

  • The capability: The Vulnerability Insights Dashboard in Tanzu Hub provides a detailed view of risk exposure and displays CVE criticality, patch levels, and environmental exposure for Tanzu Platform components.
  • The impact: For platform engineers, this enables faster triage, better prioritization, and quicker remediation of security risks. Teams can also now download the software bill of materials (SBOM) for all deployed components within Tanzu Platform.

Centralized platform observability at scale

To achieve true operational excellence, platform teams need to centralize the health and visibility of their foundations and services.

  • The capability: Tanzu Platform 10.3 brings Healthwatch dashboards and capabilities to Tanzu Hub, centrally improving the observability across the platform at scale. This includes support for service instance dashboards, custom dashboards, alerts, and runbooks. The centralized alerting experience now supports email, Slack, PagerDuty, and webhooks. Tanzu Hub also now features self-observability for Tanzu Hub system components.
  • The impact: This functionality is critical for platform engineering teams who require an overall operational health picture of their entire environment. For developers, the expanded observability includes application topology and alert badges on apps and services, improving troubleshooting speed.

Simplified foundation fleet management and vending

Operating large-scale platforms requires centralized control over deployment, capacity, and capabilities across numerous foundations. Tanzu Platform 10.3 delivers tools that can help you manage your entire fleet seamlessly.

  • The capability: The new Foundation Vending feature enables the simplified, end-to-end deployment of foundations directly from Tanzu Hub. This greatly reduces deployment complexity and ensures consistency across your fleet. Platform engineers can also more easily manage license keys and centrally roll out updates across all attached foundations from Tanzu Hub.
  • The impact: The ability to use Org Groups and Space Groups (now available in tech preview) allows application and platform teams to push applications to the “best” foundation to reduce hot spots and better balance workloads across foundations. This, combined with capacity analysis improvements, allows platform engineers to analyze utilization per isolation segment, enabling mature FinOps practices and better resource planning.

Streamlining value delivery: More key capabilities

Beyond the marquee features, Tanzu Platform 10.3 includes many targeted enhancements that simplify the developer experience and assist in platform operations and governance.

Enhancing developer velocity and self-service

  • Service publishing in the Tanzu Platform Marketplace: Developers can publish their applications as services directly to the Marketplace for easy consumption, which simplifies developer collaboration.
  • Data service empowerment: New capabilities for data services include point-in-time restore capability for Postgres and MySQL. Additionally, slow query logs are now accessible to application developers via a service key, reducing the platform engineering team’s support burden.
  • .NET and Docker/OCI improvements: Developers gain support for Windows authentication/Active Directory (AD) in .NET apps and services. Docker app security is enhanced by preventing root user access in Docker images by default.
  • Tanzu Intelligent Assist: The Advanced mode of Tanzu Intelligent Assist, available to Tanzu Platform customers, includes a per-foundation smart summary that compiles health and capacity metrics into easily consumable, actionable insights.

Strengthening platform control and governance

  • Granular AI model governance: The AI Services tile (formerly GenAI tile) includes improved plan quotas and policy webhooks to integrate third-party tools for content safety. Metrics now align to OTEL standards for better observability integration.
  • Certificate expiry tracking: A centralized view of certificate authorities (CA) and leaf certificates across your entire fleet of foundations, this feature enables platform engineers to more easily manage certificates and understand when certificates need to be regenerated.
  • Capabilities warehouse: Browse available capabilities in a simple, easy-to-use interface where you can see the published versions, release date, end-of-service date, and links to release notes and documentation.
  • Backup and restore of Tanzu Hub: As Tanzu Hub has become more critical to managing at-scale deployments, customers can now use Bosh Backup & Restore (BBR) to back up and restore Tanzu Hub.

Achieve more with greater ease

Tanzu Platform 10.3 is more than an incremental update; it’s a focused response to the demands of the AI-native enterprise. By unifying the experience for developers and providing a prescriptive, controlled environment for platform engineers, it empowers organizations to confidently build, deliver, and manage everything from modernized legacy apps to cutting-edge agentic AI services.
