VMware Technical Adoption Management Services™ is one of the critical ways VMware ensures our clients access deeper levels of insight and accelerate their return on investment for VMware solutions. An evolved update to Technical Management Services, Technical Adoption Management expands our holistic approach to unlock better outcomes at a faster pace.
Zoe Marble is one of our Austin-based, multi-cloud Technology Adoption Managers (TAMs), playing a pivotal role in providing the seamless, integrated experience VMware is known for. TAMs empower clients to drive innovation and growth and gain traction on long-term success. By acting as a guide for an organization’s technical and strategic direction, TAMs like Zoe deliver value and advocate for clients within VMware.
The magnetic pull of tech and the supportive community at VMware
Zoe discovered her passion for tech while studying pre-med at The University of South Alabama. During her sophomore year she realized that although she loved biology and math, she was less interested in chemistry and was ready for a pivot.
“I still wanted something where I’d be constantly learning and not getting stagnant,” Zoe said. “Tech was like a magnet for me.”
She transitioned to information technology and networking, which enabled her to marry her interests in the fast pace of innovation in tech and her desire to work in a field with opportunities for continuing education. After college, Zoe went through the VMware Academy and graduated as an associate during the early pandemic in 2020. She went on to complete her VMware Certified Professional certification in Datacenter Virtualization (VCP-DCV) and other multi-cloud certifications and now works on a close-knit team of TAMs who uplift and inspire her.
“When you are new and just out of college, you want to work with people who are going to empower you, in an environment that’s going to encourage you instead of put you in the corner,” Zoe said. “VMware does that. The team I’m on is great – we rely on each other’s specialties, talents, and experience. Anytime I have a question, people are willing to help. I always feel supported. It really shows when you’re around people who like what they do.”
Dedication to client service and growth
Zoe brings curiosity, passion, and dedication to her work, supporting clients on their digital transformation journeys. As a trusted advisor, Zoe looks for opportunities to build relationships with customers and dig into their challenges with a focus on resolving issues, leveraging resources, and sharing best practices and educational opportunities to maximize their technology investment. Every quarter, VMware takes time to survey our TAM customers to make sure that they are satisfied with the level of service and guidance they are receiving. Zoe’s customers have always given her full marks – 100% satisfaction for her incredible work and dedication in helping them achieve their goals.
Now with a few years under her belt, Zoe is considering several other VMware certifications, including security (VCP-EWS) and VMware Aria™ (VCP-CMA), to further develop her expertise and applicable skills.
On being a female in tech
During college, Zoe was one of five females in a class of 50 at the School of Computing, a reality that often felt uncomfortable.
“When I interviewed and joined VMware, it was surprising and refreshing that two out of the three individuals I met with were female, one of whom is now my mentor. That’s something to be proud of. VMware truly embraces a diverse workforce that goes beyond into the culture of work. It’s easy to tell when a workplace was built just for men and that’s not the case here.”
When asked for advice to share with young girls considering a career in the tech industry, Zoe wholeheartedly encourages them to seize the opportunity and dive right in.
“Lean into what you are good at and what you know, then figure out your pain points and try to fill in those gaps,” she said. “As women, we do face obstacles but we bring unique perspectives to the table – and that’s definitely a strength.”
It helps to have great examples to emulate. Zoe credits her own growth and success at VMware in large part to the leadership of Martha Bellens-Martin, Director of Customer Success for VMware’s South Central Technical Adoption Management Services team, and the hands-on coaching style of Kelly Dare, Staff Technical Adoption Manager and Team Lead.
Outside her TAM role, Zoe loves listening to podcasts while walking her poodle mix, Remington, watching sci-fi movies, and trying out local sushi spots with her husband. She also has been able to pay it forward with Women Connecting Women, a business networking group that unites women of diverse occupations and fosters personal and professional leadership and educational support. She enjoys the opportunity to guide, encourage, and learn from other young women in tech.
