A few highlights
- Develop an outcome focused roadmap. The biggest reason that some organizations stumble out of the gate with Workspace ONE designs (or any technical designs, for that matter) is that they don’t take the time to develop a proper roadmap using a repeatable, introspective process. VMware’s Outcome-Focused Approach focuses on defining the following through a collaborative workshop with key stakeholders: business problem, IT problem, IT capabilities, business outcome. Once defined you’ve got the understanding needed to build your outcome-focused roadmap.
- Map user communities and use cases. The first big decision is how to logically segment your users, which can be done by geo or function. Next, you’ll need to decide what these user communities need to perform their jobs most efficiently. A use case is a combination of applications, profiles, configurations, and resources, utilized to promote an efficient use of a devices for a specific set of purposes. Use case = a user community + collection of apps/profiles/configurations/resources.
- Define and measure success with KPIs. An important early step is to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) during the design phase of the project. Which user communities are involved? What are you hoping to drive for each of those communities as a part of this project? Set S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Bound) goals for each of these KPIs and establish touchpoints or milestones throughout your project plan.
