“People can have the Model T in any color – so long as it’s black.” – Henry Ford
A quaint view of customer insights, isn’t it? Good thing we take a different approach to IT operations at VMware. I’m pleased to report that our vRealize Operations product continues to win rave reviews from the people who matter most—customers. And in the forum type many users value most—an independent setting where users post their real experiences for their peers. In this case, that forum is IT Central Station, which offers unbiased reviews from the tech community.
We know you value the opinion of your peers, and we pay a lot of attention to it here at VMware. That’s because we know that buying decisions are becoming more and more influenced by the advice of others. It’s long been the case in how consumers buy, but the same is true in business purchase decisions as well.
Adam Marcum, a manager of systems engineering at Intersections, cited capacity planning as the most valuable contribution his team gets from vRealize Operations. This feature enables “seeing where the hot spots are and where we’re running out of compute resource and what we need to address—at a glance.” He sums his remarks by saying vRealize Operations has helped Intersections IT become more proactive.
Tim Smith, who works at a media company, said vRealize Operations setup was extremely easy and praises VMware technical support for going the distance when he needs it. He also cited capacity planning as the biggest value vRealize Operations has brought to his enterprise; he says it’s helped them avoid project delays (due to capacity issues).
Patrick McAneney, a cloud operations manager at a tech services company, also praised vRealize Operations’ easy setup, and now especially likes vRealize Operations for troubleshooting. He praised the ability to create custom dashboards, liked the custom reporting, and says vRealize Operations is great with troubleshooting “from the cluster level all the way down to the VM, you can see the whole perspective or troubleshoot the individual VM.”
Koustuve Pande, global command center analyst at AstraZeneca, said simply: “It’s amazing to use this product.” Thanks, Koustuve.
To be fair, do users say we have room for improvement? Sure. One user said vRealize Operations could stand to work more seamlessly with vCenter. Another, contrary to his peers, found troubleshooting to be less than optimal. Still, these by-users-for-users reviews are about as authentic as it gets, so we hope you’ll take a few minutes to check them out. And in the meantime, we’ll take customer insights more seriously than Henry Ford.
