VMware is proud to be part of the Identity Defined Security Alliance (IDSA), a group of identity and security vendors, solution providers and practitioners focused on delivering a faster, identity-centric secure user experience to your digital workspace.
Today, the IDSA is hosting Identity Management Day to educate and share best practices, and as a reminder to make identity management and digital identity security a priority.
In the spirit of the event, today we’re sharing some of our most popular resources for identity management in general, and for Workspace ONE Access, the identity and access management component of Workspace ONE.
Workspace ONE Access
VMware Workspace ONE Access is and identity and access management solution that enables remote workforce to securely access any application from any device and any location based on Zero Trust security principles.
Workspace ONE Access acts as a broker to other identity stores and providers—including Active Directory (AD), Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), Azure AD, Okta and Ping Identity—that your organization may already be using. It can enable authentication across on-premises, SaaS, web, mobile and native applications without the need to rearchitect the identity environment. Alongside Workspace ONE UEM and VMware Horizon, VMware Workspace ONE Access can deploy a universal application catalog, provide multi-factor authentication (MFA), risk-based conditional access and single sign-on (SSO).
Identity Management Resources
Identity and access management concepts can seem daunting at first, but for end-user computing professions—including long-time VDI, mobility and desktop professionals—getting up to speed on identity is a great way to be prepared to support increasing numbers of SaaS and cloud apps, as well as supporting Zero Trust security concepts.
We have a range of great videos from Peter Björk, who was up until recently part of our technical marketing team, and is now part of the EUC Office of the CTO.
You can get started with this technical overview of identity and access management:
From there, you can take a deeper look at the most important protocols for enterprise identity management. Peter’s video on SAML 2.0 is one of our most popular videos:
Then move on to OAuth 2.0 & OpenID Connect:
Now that you’re an expert on identity management, for current Workspace ONE customers who don’t have Workspace ONE Access but are interested in the solution, our Workspace ONE Access overview explains our mobile SSO, application catalog and conditional access features. From here, there are many more resources at the VMware Digital Workspace Tech Zone, and on our VMware End-User Computing YouTube channel.
In case you missed them, some of our recent updates include FIDO2 support and Login Risk analytics and support for multi-factor authentication built directly into Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub, our digital workspace app.
