In my last VMworld update, I provided a recap of the story so far, highlighting the ongoing integration between Okta and Workspace ONE.
Today, I want to follow that blog up with new information that demonstrates how Workspace ONE and Okta come together to deliver a best in class digital experience for employees.
A key focus for Workspace ONE is to advance the user experience. The goal is not to just improve Workspace ONE, but to improve how the employee experiences technology in order to get their job done. This may mean the device they choose (BYOD), the ease of securely accessing applications, easily signing off expenses claims or getting back up and running after the loss or theft of a device. The digital workspace plays a key part in pulling all of this together in a way that is seamless to the end-user and simplified for IT.
There is an increasing amount of research pointing to the importance of the digital experience in the hiring and retention of the best and brightest talent. The digital workspace is clearly an important driver of what constitutes a great experience for new employees. Just yesterday, VMware announced a number of innovations within Workspace ONE that help organizations onboard and ensure employees have the tools to reach their full potential, starting from day zero!
As with all good partnerships, these capabilities can be further extended with Workspace ONE and Okta combined. This short video explains how it comes together:
Okta and Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub Automation
By utilizing Okta’s integration with multiple HR systems, Okta can provision the identities and accounts for the user. Workspace ONE can then automatically surface these applications for the user in Intelligent Hub, installing mobile apps where appropriate or presenting SaaS, Web and even virtual apps and desktops.
This automation frees up IT time away from repetitive manual tasks and ensures the user has a consistent user experience across all their devices. Of course, there’s a lot of other benefits– the integration of Workspace ONE with Okta Universal Directory for organizations that need a “No AD” directory option (such as managing contractors or seasonal workers), SSO integration with the Okta Integration Network, and the implementation of a Zero Trust approach to security.
