Cloud Migration Scale on Demand Technical VMware Cloud on AWS

VMware Cloud on AWS expands to three additional AWS regions across three continents

VMware Cloud on AWS delivers a seamlessly integrated hybrid cloud service that extends on-premises vSphere environments to a VMware SDDC running on Amazon EC2 elastic, bare-metal infrastructure that is fully integrated as part of AWS. This service fulfils the needs of our customers across cloud migration, data center extension, disaster recovery and next-generation applications.

In our February What’s New blog post, we talked about Custom CPU Core Counts and Disaster Recovery enhancements. Let us take a look at what’s new this month.

Accelerated regional expansion: This month we are continuing to expand across 3 major AWS regions – these include AWS Asia Pacific (Singapore), Europe (Paris) and Canada (Central). This brings the availability of the service to 13 AWS Regions globally, including AWS GovCloud (US-West) and multiple AWS Availability Zones.

In addition, we deliver capabilities that continue to enable customers to run and better secure enterprise applications with more flexibility on VMware Cloud on AWS. Let us jump right in:

SDDCs with external storage through a managed service provider (MSP): Provides customers the option to connect to external storage through a storage managed service provider, say for storage capacity expansion and other needs. The managed service provider creates the customer SDDC and fully manages the SDDC and the external storage on behalf of the customer. In this iteration, Faction Inc. is the service provider that is validated with this capability. Learn more by reading this blog post.

VMware Network Insight integration with VMware Cloud on AWS: Network Insight accelerates micro-segmentation deployment, minimizes business risk during application migration and enables customers to confidently manage and troubleshoot application networking and security across their on-premises and VMware Cloud on AWS environments. VMware Network Insight now supports integration of VMware Cloud on AWS as a data source. Learn more by reading this blog post.
