AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) firms around the globe utilize VMware Horizon and NVIDIA GRID to improve collaboration and increase productivity, while making IT more efficient and company data more secure.
Populous, a global design firm specializing in entertainment and sports arenas, is a great example. The firm’s project list includes Wimbledon, the London Olympic Stadium transformation, T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Philippine Arena in Manila, ANZ Stadium in Sydney, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio and many more. Populous began to roll out NVIDIA GRID on Horizon over three years ago, and today they are nearly 90% virtualized. The desktop transformation means architects and designers have access to the data they need, regardless of whether they are at a project site, working from home or sitting down with a client. They can pick up a laptop or iPad and quickly pull up the model.
In a recent project in Malaysia, Horizon with GRID enabled drafters in Brisbane to collaborate in real time with client-facing project managers in Singapore. The solution allows Populous to grow the business by adding people, applications and new technologies without increasing its IT staff.
Listen to Populous share how they enabled their workforce to go mobile and deliver 3D applications on any device, anywhere.
More with GRID + Horizon + Autodesk Revit 2015
GRID with Horizon is supported by Autodesk Revit 2015, a building information modeling (BIM) software application with features for architectural design, MEP and structural engineering and construction. Revit earned “leader” status in G2 Crowd’s Winter 2015 Rankings of the best building design and BIM software. What AEC Firms Say about NVIDIA GRID on Horizon
“Word got out about our amazing VDI solution, and I am pleased to say that other firms are reaching out to us to ask how we achieved these impressive results. GRID has solved our problems, expanded our capabilities and positioned us as local thought leaders in the area of desktop virtualization. We hit the trifecta on this one!”

“NVIDIA GRID has had a tremendous impact on STV’s workflow, improving our ability to work efficiently—and work together—regardless of location. The first time we tried VDI, adoption was difficult. But with GRID, everyone was clamoring to get set up. GRID gives us true value between the increased productivity, reduced hardware costs and more efficient IT management. It’s a huge boon for our company.”
—Matthew Dierolf, Network Systems Manager, STV

“NVIDIA GRID vGPU gives me remote access to all my live files and makes collaboration easier, because I don’t have to worry about synchronizing versions or clashing with other users over access. It means that I can keep my finger on the pulse, even when I’m away from the studio.”
