In-Product Evaluation of vSphere with Tanzu

We are incredibly excited to announce the availability of vSphere 7 Update 1! This is a jampacked release that introduces vSphere with Tanzu, the fastest way to get started with Kubernetes workloads on your existing vSphere environment (no VCF or NSX needed). For the first time ever, you can try out the capabilities offered by vSphere with Tanzu for 60 days without ever leaving the vSphere client!

Let me explain how this worksWhile you might be familiar with our existing evaluation program that requires a My VMware login, we wanted to make the process of signing up for an evaluation of vSphere with Tanzu more contextual and seamless. When you first upgrade to vSphere 7 Update 1 and click on the “Workload Management” section in the menu, you will see a simple form to enroll into the in-product evaluation.

All you need to do is enter your information on this screen and voila, you now have access to the full set of features offered as part of vSphere with Tanzu. You don’t have to login to My VMware, and you don’t have to enter any license keys. The in-product evaluation is on a per cluster basis and once activated is valid for 60 days – as simple as that. If you’re looking for information on how to set up vSphere with Tanzu, we have excellent blog posts coming up from our technical experts walking through it step-by-step. Stay tuned for that.

At the end of the 60-day evaluation period, if you’re interested in acquiring a license to use vSphere with Tanzu in production, please reach out to our sales teamOnce the evaluation period for a cluster comes to an endrunning workloads continue to operate normally, however you can no longer create new workloads or update existing ones.

Overall, we believe that vSphere with Tanzu is the best place to run your VMs and Kubernetes workloads. With this easy in-product evaluation, you can now try this out yourself.

We are excited about these new releases and how vSphere is always improving to serve our customers and workloads better in the hybrid cloud.
