This week, Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows Server 2016. VMware has been testing technical preview releases and is preparing to support Windows Server 2016 on VMware vSphere. Once final validation is complete, VMware will publish support for Windows Server 2016. Please be sure to check the VMware Compatibility Guide for details.
Additionally, VMware will work with Microsoft to validate these ESXi releases with Microsoft as part of the Windows Server Virtualization Validation Program (SVVP). Microsoft recently announced its intent to add an Additional Qualification (AQ) option in the SVVP to validate third-party hypervisors as capable of supporting the new virtualization based security (VBS) features introduced in Windows Server 2016. VMware will provide further updates as our planning progresses.
