A New Era for VMTN Communities: We are Integrating with Broadcom

Important Announcement: Transition Ahead

Transition Date: May 6, 2024

We’re thrilled to share that VMware Communities is embarking on a new journey as we transition to a new platform under Broadcom Communities. Set to take place on May 6, 2024, this transition marks a significant step forward for our community, offering numerous benefits and opportunities for growth, improvements, and enhancements aimed at providing our users with a more seamless and engaging community experience

What to Expect:

Enhanced Communities Structure: While maintaining our VMware Community Environment such as discussion areas, product pages, document folders, and announcements, The community has been significantly enhanced. Moved to a brand new platform with cleaner and more intuitive community navigation, with fewer instances of spam, and an updated and cleaner navigation menu, making the experience of navigating through the platform easier and more intuitive. You will be able to keep navigating through communities, learning, sharing knowledge, and interacting with your favorite community users’ friends, moderators, and community managers. Find help with products, help, interact, find solutions, share your knowledge, and participate in your favorite programs.

Enhanced User Experience: Navigate through communities, share knowledge, interact with peers, and access support with ease. Enjoy cleaner navigation, intuitive menus, and an updated platform design, offering a more streamlined and engaging user experience.

Product and Program Consolidation: Reflecting the new line of products consolidated from traditional VMware offerings, our community will feature new pages such as VCF, SDE, ANS, TNZ – TANZU/PIVOTAL, Developer Portal {code}, Flings, VMware Lead Education, and VMware Groups.

How to Prepare for the Transition:

  • Downtime: From April 19th, 7:00 AM Pacific, to May 6th, 7:00 AM Pacific, the community will be in read-only mode. During this period, you can log in but won’t be able to take any actions or interact.
  • No Action Required: Users don’t need to create a new profile on Broadcom Communities. Your account will be automatically migrated to Broadcom/Higher Logic Community, preserving all your data, points, and badges.
  • Migration Process: No action is needed from users. Your account will be automatically migrated to Broadcom/Higher Logic Community. Simply reset your password when prompted on May 6th to access your migrated account, complete with all data, points, and badges.
  • Password Reset: On May 6th, expect an email from Broadcom Communities asking you to reset your password. Simply follow the instructions to renew your password and log in to the new platform.
  • Moderator Approval: Your initial post in the new Community will require moderator approval. Once approved, you’ll gain full access to navigate and interact within the community. This measure helps to prevent scams and fake accounts, ensuring the integrity of our environment.

Important Reminder:

  • Inactive Accounts won’t be migrated: Accounts that haven’t been logged in for the past two years won’t be migrated. Ensure you log in before April 19th to retain your account data.

VMware Rewards Program:

  • On Friday, April 5, 2024, the rewards program was transitioned from Influitive to Base.ai. Both your lifetime and current points were transferred seamlessly. For more information, please refer to the FAQ here.
