Announcing New Editions of vSAN+

VMware announces the availability of two new editions of vSAN+, our premier hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) offering which extends vSAN’s capabilities to now deliver cloud-connected services that help IT administrators to centralize management and enhance the efficiency of their vSAN environment.

The new editions, vSAN+ Advanced and vSAN+ Standard expand the portfolio of editions to mirror the current perpetual license editions of vSAN. You can see from the chart below that vSAN+ Standard and vSAN+ Advanced feature sets match the perpetual license edition of the same name.

These new editions enable us to better match feature sets customer needs across a variety of use cases at compelling price points. Importantly, all the cloud connected features of vSAN+ will also be available for vSAN+ Advanced and vSAN+ Standard. Please read our blog post on vSAN+ to learn about the benefits of a cloud-connected data center.

Subscription Upgrade Program Enables Smooth Transition

VMware introduced a Subscription Upgrade Program in July 2022 to help customers easily transition from perpetual licenses to subscriptions. When moving from perpetual licenses to subscriptions, a customer’s subscription metric transitions to per core from per CPU with perpetual licenses. With the initial upgrade, a customer will trade in their per CPU perpetual license for entitlement of up to 32 cores based on their server configuration but pay for only 16 cores. At renewal time, the customer would then pay for the total number of cores to be entitled.

With the introduction of vSAN+ Advanced and vSAN+ Standard, VMware is extending SUP to the new editions, so customers can easily transition from vSAN Advanced and Standard licenses to vSAN+ Advanced and vSAN+ Standard.

For more information on vSAN subscription offers, talk to your VMware sales or partner representative.
