Cameron serves as VMware CTO for the Americas. In this role, he is responsible for helping to drive the execution and communication of the Office of the CTO’s vision, internally and externally, supporting VMware’s Americas field teams on all CTO evangelism and representing VMware’s technical vision to customers, partners and analysts. Prior to joining VMware, Cameron was a Research Vice President in Gartner’s IT leaders service where he focused on application performance monitoring technologies and guided the development of the overall Gartner monitoring team agenda. Before that, Cameron focused on the management of virtual infrastructures at Gartner which subsequently lead to the co-development of Gartner’s cloud management platform (CMP) taxonomy. In 2009, Cameron initiated Gartner’s coverage of the then emerging DevOps phenomenon which lead him subsequently to develop the concept of Web-scale IT for which he was given a Gartner Thought Leadership award. Prior to Gartner, Cameron held various roles at BMC Software and IBM.
