VMware Aria Continues Momentum with Additional Innovations

It’s just the beginning…

Although we are closing Q1 in a few weeks, we have had a pretty exciting and innovative start to 2023 at VMware! Between announcing dates for VMware Explore 2023, the April Multi-Cloud Briefing session, or continuous VMware Aria releases, it’s sure to be an exciting year – and it’s just the beginning.

What’s New with VMware Aria

At VMware Explore 2022, we introduce VMware Aria, a multi-cloud management portfolio that provides a set of end-to-end solutions for managing the cost, performance, configuration, and delivery of infrastructure and applications. Expressly designed for the operational challenges of cloud-native applications and public cloud environments, VMware Aria delivers a new perspective on multi-cloud management.

Today, we have more news across the VMware Aria portfolio with multiple enhancements to help our customers on their cloud-smart approach with cloud management.

VMware Aria Cost powered by CloudHealth

VMware Aria Cost is excited to announce two new enhancements – Kubernetes Request Rightsizing and support for Alibaba Cloud.

VMware Aria Cost powered by CloudHealth’s tunable rightsizing recommendations make it much faster and easier to optimize resource usage, eliminating waste in the environment and thus, reducing cloud spend. VMware Aria Cost collects container usage data and analyzes CPU and Memory usage against the Requests for CPU and Memory set by the developer; Then delivers recommendations for adjusting the CPU and Memory Requests for each container. VMware Aria Cost powered by CloudHealth helps application developers determine appropriate requests for their Kubernetes containers by recommending a range based on past usage and custom efficiency targets.

VMware Aria Cost powered by CloudHealth extends multi-cloud management to Alibaba Cloud, enabling customers and partners with visibility into cloud cost and usage, streamline decision-making with custom reports and dashboards, and map costs back to business units or projects, all in a single platform. The addition of Alibaba Cloud expands existing VMware Aria Cost support for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, VMware Cloud on AWS (beta), and data center cost management.

Benefits of managing Alibaba Cloud costs in VMware Aria Cost include:

  • View granular breakdowns of cloud data to understand which departments, teams, projects, or applications are responsible for driving costs
  • Leverage historical data for accurate forecasting
  • Streamline decision-making with custom reports and dashboards tailored to your business function, team, or project
