I am excited to announce the July 2022 update for vRealize Operations Cloud which includes several great enhancements. As a reminder, vRealize Operations Cloud receives all new features and enhancements throughout the year with vRealize Operations on-premises receiving the updates later in the year. Synthetic Monitoring
To start we have a brand-new capability that will only be available in vRealize Operations Cloud, Synthetic Monitoring provides application KPIs for key performance and availability metrics. The new service will allow you to:
- Monitor common user paths in your business applications through simulated API calls
- Track business application availability and performance
- View trending of all API call performance over time
- Utilize deep analysis on API call response times
- Integrates with Tanzu Observability
- Integrate with CI/CD and DevOps tooling
Run basic actions on public clouds
Many of our customers have asked for the ability to initiate an action automatically via the vRealize Operations Cloud UI for a specific AWS, Microsoft Azure or GCP CE instance and this release has delivered! This enables cloud admins to have a single pane of glass where they can gain actionable insights to manage their distributed cloud infrastructure. You will now be able to Start, Stop, or Reboot VMs for all 3 native public clouds – for either single or multiple instances.
Monitoring applications in public clouds (AWS & Microsoft Azure) with open source Telegraf agent
We continue our expansion to public cloud by adding the capability to deploy open source Telegraf agents into remote machines running applications on public or multi-cloud ecosystems, specifically on Microsoft Azure and AWS. Using open source Telegraf agent on the EC2/VM’s in AWS and Microsoft Azure, you can now monitor applications to track metrics, and monitor processes and services – with automatically created relationships between Azure/AWS objects and the metrics collected.
Rule based application discovery
Now you can easily discover multiple applications running in all or specific areas of infrastructure and view associated resources with simple user defined rules. Discover applications based on tags, properties, and object names.
Enhanced capacity planning
When you need to look to the future, you can give your crystal ball a rest with the ability to reserve resources for upcoming projects using ‘commit’, in tandem with what-if analysis for capacity planning. You’ll be able to view results of what-if analysis based on your allocation model and even specify business hours for capacity calculations.
