On my recent visit to VMware HQ in Palo Alto, CA, I was honored to have the opportunity to interview Sunny Dua, who is a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at VMware. Sunny specializes in VMware’s vRealize Operations Manager and, along with his cohort Iwan Rahabok, they have done some of the coolest things I have ever seen with vROps including things like performance dashboards and performance service level agreement (SLA) reporting.
In the interview, Sunny starts off by asking “What is Fast?“. To the vSphere admin “fast” may be one thing, to the end user – something else, and to the CEO, something else entirely. The point being, how can you be successful at delivering “fast” performance and fast application response if you don’t define what “fast” is?
If you have any hope to define what fast is and monitoring it over time, you’ll need a tool like vRealize Operations.
