Next-Gen Public Cloud Management with VMware Aria Automation

Organizations can enable multi-cloud infrastructure consumption for greater agility and enhanced business value with automation capabilities from VMware Aria. They can unlock modern DevOps-enabled capabilities with a common multi-cloud infrastructure consumption layer that speeds up the delivery of infrastructure and services—both private and public, which are key to driving increased profitability, top-line revenue, and enhanced agility.

While it may seem different, private and public cloud management needs are similar. VMware Aria Automation started as a tool to automate and manage private clouds by abstracting resources and data centers, creating reusable templates, delivering governance policies, and providing extensibility in provisioning through self-service catalog and day 2 management. As more organizations shift to public cloud, Cloud Operators want to get a consistent experience and governance to avoid shadow IT. This can be done by abstracting public cloud platforms, using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for repeatable deployments, customizing workflows, providing on-demand consumption / resource management, and leveraging controls / guardrails to avoid cost overruns.

Today, we’re excited to announce the next-gen public cloud management capabilities for VMware Aria Automation, making it easier for organizations to deliver, govern, and consume a self-service multi-cloud.

VMware Aria Automation for Public Clouds is a new offering for VMware Aria Universal Suite, which includes VMware Aria Automation. It unlocks access to enhanced public cloud management capabilities and VMware Aria Hub powered by VMware Aria Graph for VMware Aria Universal Suite customers. VMware Aria Automation for Public Clouds is expected to be available in VMware’s FY24.

New and existing VMware Aria Automation customers, who are looking to extend management beyond VMware Clouds, can quickly get started, leveraging common automation capabilities, including discovery and onboarding of workloads, organizing cloud resources, provisioning with VMware Aria Automation Templates as well as extensible actions, Day 2 actions, policies, and a service catalog, and apply them to public clouds, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Experienced VMware Aria Automation customers who are already managing public clouds can also immediately take advantage of AWS and GCP public cloud resources based on the new VMware Aria Automation plugin framework, with Azure public cloud resources coming soon. Customers will now have increased public cloud resource coverage for the new services added by the providers as they become available, significantly reducing the time it takes to support those new features. This helps Cloud Operations teams work faster without having to upgrade the VMware Aria Automation platform itself, enabling developers to consume more public cloud services and enjoy developer-friendly solutions to provision and manage the lifecycle of the public cloud resources.

The new offering also entitles VMware Aria Universal Suite customers access to VMware Aria Hub powered by VMware Aria Graph. VMware Aria Universal Suite customers can get started with multi-cloud visibility, governance (enabled by VMware Tanzu Guardrails), and intelligent insights into distributed public cloud and Kubernetes environments.

As organizations embrace diverse public cloud resources, managing the life cycle of these resources can quickly become hard to manage. VMware Aria Automation provides a multi-cloud management solution that helps simplify and streamline the management of cloud resources with centralized control, automation, cost management, security, and compliance, for a range of cloud provider platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). VMware Aria can help organizations achieve greater agility, flexibility, and efficiency in their cloud operations.
