VMware Aria Hub

VMware Aria Hub July Release and VMware Explore Las Vegas Preview

With the July 2023 release for VMware Aria Hub, we are adding a flamegraph widget to provide performance views per microservice, as well as expanding our bulk account onboarding capabilities to include Azure accounts. We also want to alert users of a UI (User Interface) change to our left-hand navigation bar, which groups Secure Clouds and Guardrails under a single new “Governance” section. These releases continue to build upon VMware Aria Hub’s goal of providing users with centralized views and controls powered by cloud-scale, graph-based data store technology.

Also, be sure to read on to the end of this blog for a preview of all things related to Aria Hub and Graph at VMware Explore Las Vegas. We hope to see you there!

What’s New – VMware Aria Hub June Release

Micro-service Performance Views with Flamegraphs

Flamegraphs are a useful visualization tool to understand a complete view of the processes behind a microservice, particularly by showing performance-related details over the course of a user request. Now, VMware Aria Hub provides a flamegraph performance view per microservice, allowing users to understand the processes running on a node and the percentage of CPU bandwidth they occupy through a helpful visualization. If a user has not yet installed and attached the required Kubernetes collector to enable performance widgets, they will be prompted to act within the platform.

The flamegraph can be found within the Explore view in the side panel as a widget under the performance category. In the same side panel, users can also gain visibility into the relationships among their Kubernetes resources, be notified of security and governance alerts, and relevant other relevant insights. In combination with the flamegraph and other performance metrics found in the side panel, you can successfully stay on top of what is happening with your Kubernetes clusters in one centralized location.

Azure Bulk Onboarding

Last month, we announced the addition to AWS Bulk Onboarding in VMware Aria Hub, through which the platform assesses a top-level AWS account and discovers the account hierarchy and relationships with other member accounts as part of the inventory collection process. We are thrilled to now expand this use case to a similar capability for Microsoft Azure: Azure Bulk Onboarding. Though users of the VMware Aria Hub Free Tier will still be limited to onboarding two public cloud accounts, Azure Bulk Onboarding will help platform subscribers more efficiently onboard Azure accounts and scale multi-cloud management.

With Azure Bulk Onboarding, VMware Aria Hub lets users onboard all Azure subscriptions they choose and see them visualized through the Explore view. After following a simple setup process to register an application, assign a role, and create a secret in the Azure Portal, users can select the subscriptions they’d like to bulk onboard in a list view in VMware Aria Hub. After onboarding, VMware Aria Hub will offer insights across your Azure subscriptions and will generate details on violations, cost, performance, and more that provide you with the information you need to effectively manage your estate.

Introducing the new Governance section in VMware Aria Hub

We also want to alert users of a UI change to our left-hand navigation bar, which groups Aria Automation for Secure Clouds and Aria Guardrails under a single new Governance section. Within the new Governance section, you can expect to find all the functionality you know from Aria Automation for Secure Clouds and Aria Guardrails, including a summary and more granular details for your findings, policies, suppressions, and more.
