Customers today are juggling compliance and audit issues and trying to troubleshoot issues across various vendor infrastructures. Logs are something every device creates, but being able to view and make sense of them is what VMware Aria Operations for Logs makes efficient.
The latest release for SaaS and on-premises 8.12 will improve logging capabilities for customers. This release has updated the product name to “VMware Aria Operations for Logs” from “vRealize Log Insight” and “vRealize Log Insight Cloud” in the various user interfaces.

Google Cloud VMware Engine SaaS only (log comparison, log export, log dashboards, more)
Webhooks enhancements (search bar available, intuitive authentication setup, test alert capability, proxy configuration if deployed behind a VPN or endpoint is a cloud offering like PagerDuty, using Angular)
Upgrade to Cassandra 4 (DB snapshot, Schema upgrade, Cassandra Driver Upgrade, new API, driver Profiles)
Updated Certificate Management (Certificate for Inter-node Communication, Truststores and keystores, Upgrade flow, Adding new nodes, automation of the Truststore restoration in case of corruption, updating older versions for the internal certificate)
Eliminating Migration Tasks (differentiate between fresh deployment and upgrade scenarios, rely on migration scripts during upgrade only)
Troubleshooting Script & Support Bundle (new troubleshooting scripts, included troubleshooting scripts in VMware Aria Operations for Logs, included the output of the scripts in support bundles)
Query Federation: On-prem Scope (PIQL REST API is now tech-preview, Fields API is revised, improvements in the Log Forwarder/LeMans Client)
Support for 10 Index Partitions (for more flexibility when retaining data)
More APIs for SaaS (more REST APIs to pull the extracted fields from the Fields Library to help extract the data fields that are important for queries or filters)
Content Packs updates for SaaS (support for Apache-CLF, VMware Aria Operations Orchestrator)
Federated Log Management for SaaS (Integrating all on-premises VMware Aria Operations for Logs instances information into a SaaS dashboard instance)
Logs Cost Management Opportunities for SaaS (More visibility will be available for the SaaS deployment which will give alerts and thresholds that can be set to allow users to better manage their ingestion levels and ability to configure ingestion limits that effect the SaaS billing)

The new release adds many capabilities for intelligent logging as part of an integrated monitoring and troubleshooting solution. SaaS log storage costs will be easier to manage with the new visibility of what applications and hostnames are creating the logs. This new release will allow VMware Aria Operations for Logs to offer complete 360-degree troubleshooting that combines metrics, logs, and numerous integrations.
