Welcome to the VMware vRealize Automation, November 2021 Launch!
As the state of multi-cloud computing continues to shape today’s enterprises, this month’s launch features new capabilities around Kubernetes automation and resource policies to reduce management complexity that comes with your evolving multi-cloud infrastructure environments.
Self-Service Kubernetes Automation with VMware vRealize Automation
While Kubernetes has been popular with developers for a number of years, it’s now moving steadily into production environments as enterprises embrace its operational value. In this emerging ecosystem, Kubernetes is becoming the new infrastructure paradigm for modern, containerized applications as organizations build out their hybrid and mullti-cloud computing strategies.
With the November 2021 launch, vRealize Automation is now enabling DevOps teams to request vSphere with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKGs) clusters in a self-service fashion, either via VMware Cloud Templates, or via the vRealize Automation Service Broker self-service catalog interface. VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKGs), is a multi-cloud Kubernetes footprint that you can run both on-premises in vSphere and in the public cloud on AWS and Microsoft Azure. It ensures that you’re running the same conformant K8s across your infrastructure, resulting in a consistent and secure experience for development teams. Following this enhancement, users can create TKGs clusters to extend the automated provisioning and management services of TKGs across their vSphere environment.

SaltStack SecOps and CarbonBlack Integration
This month’s vRealize Automation 8.6.1 release also features new integration between VMware vRealize Automation SaltStack SecOps and VMware CarbonBlack Workload Protect. With this update, you can now download CarbonBlack scan results directly into SaltStack SecOps to automate remediation for known vulnerabilities. Customers gain intelligent vulnerability insights coupled with IT automation for closed-loop detection and instant remediation of misconfigurations. vRealize Automation SaltStack SecOps is the available security and compliance component for vRealize Automation. vRealization Automation customers, including vRealize Suite Advanced and Enterprise customers, may purchase SaltStack SecOps and add powerful capabilities that reduce time from vulnerability discovery to remediation and improve security and compliance through a unified, automated solution.

Deployment Limit Policy to define Deployment and Deployment Resource Limits
One of the top reasons vRealize Automation is trusted by large enterprises is its flexible yet deep multi-cloud governance model. New deployment limit policies allow cloud administrators within vRealize Automation to define limits around CPU count, memory, and VM, on the cloud template level. Administrators can define deployment resource limits within a larger deployment, while enforcing tailored policies for specific projects. This enables more granular control over the size and scale of individual deployments that are tied to specific catalog items, with an extra layer of policies to manage your enterprise resources. You can define logical constructs for specific use cases and apply custom limits whether it’s across clouds, projects, individual users, or cloud templates.
