We are announcing the general availability of VMware vRealize Automation 8.1, the latest release of VMware’s industry-leading hybrid cloud infrastructure automation platform.

vRealize Automation 8.1 delivers new and enhanced capabilities to help organizations implement self-service hybrid clouds, multi-cloud automation with governance, and DevOps-based infrastructure delivery. Key enhancements for this release encompass the following areas:

  • Modern Platform. Custom resources and custom Day 2 actions. Enhanced governance with approval policies. Enhanced network automation with on-demand NSX security groups using blueprints. Enhanced vRealize Operations integration with health status of deployments with workload metrics.
  • Ease of Use. Quick private cloud setup for VMware Cloud Foundation. Graphical representation for designing NSX-T security groups. Provide Bitnami OVA files in service catalog. Hierarchical tree view of vRO workflows.
  • Integration and Extensibility. Support Ansible Tower job templates. SDK framework for 3rd party IPAM integrations. Terraform provider. Support ServiceNow ITSM New York and Orlando. Support OpenShift 3. Expanded Active Directory integrations.
  • Infrastructure DevOps. Launch infrastructure pipelines from service catalog. Support PowerShell scripts for ABX actions. Support Python, Node.js, Powershell for vRealize Orchestrator.
