Migration Success Stories

How Neat Increased Their Performance Efficiency By 50%

Neat is the leading provider of smart organization systems for small businesses. The company’s unique combination of cloud, mobile, and desktop software, in conjunction with its hardware scanning solutions, allows users to transform important documents into usable digital information. For customers, this means increased organization, improved accessibility, and the simplification of everyday tasks.

Due to the continued growth of their organization, Neat needed to migrate their workloads and processes to the cloud. During the migration process, Neat faced two primary challenges that made them realize that in order to mature and be successful in the cloud in the long run, they would need a better way to visualize and optimize their AWS infrastructure.

Neat faced challenges once they migrated to AWS

In moving their infrastructure to the cloud, Neat faced two primary challenges:

  1. The ability to efficiently manage their spend
  2. The ability to delineate the financial impact of what the organization was doing in the cloud

One of the cloud’s greatest strengths—the ability to quickly and easily provision resources—can also be an organization’s biggest challenge. For Neat, the ease at which developers and the DevOps team could spin up resources on-demand meant that the organization now needed a way to monitor and control resource utilization to avoid things from sprawling out of control.

Lack of visibility was also a huge problem for the Neat team. Without insight into resource usage and, the team wasn’t able to make strategic, data-driven decisions in regards to their AWS infrastructure.

Partnering with CloudHealth

After evaluating numerous different offerings, Neat chose to partner with CloudHealth in order to incorporate a policy-driven approach and focus on cloud governance. Working with CloudHealth has enabled the Neat team to manage their cloud infrastructure while at the same time reducing costs and proactively managing performance.

“CloudHealth gave us a really good opportunity to zero in on what was oversized for what we were utilizing. This enabled us to quickly manage and adjust our architecture to be more optimized to what the customer base is actually consuming.”
