You are coming to VMworld so that you can learn about new software defined services, end user computing and management solutions from VMware.  If you are interested in improving service delivery times for infrastructure applications and other IT services as well as reducing costs through better governance and control over resource utilization, you will want to play with the some of the cloud automation solutions listed below.  If you are not attending VMworld or don’t have time to fit all of these labs into your schedule don’t worry.  These labs will be available online in the VMware HOL Catalog any time you want to try them out.  Note: you will need to wait until after VMworld for these new labs to be available as they are being developed now.

    The Expert Led Workshop for Hands on Lab 1621 will demonstrate how to use vRealize Code Stream to enable customers to integrate and orchestrate the DevOps release process by leveraging existing software development lifecycle tools. During the workshop the the HOL lab team will present how a developer or release manager can leverage vRealize Code Stream and vRealize Automation to provide continuous delivery by automating the tasks required to build, deploy, and test at each stage in the application release delivery pipeline
  • ELW-SDC-1632 – vRealize Automation Advanced Workshop

    This expert led workshop will cover Advanced vRealize Automation topics, focusing on IaaS lifecycle extensibility.  We will review the workflow stub architecture in detail, and explore how vRealize Orchestrator and its plugins are used to implement a wide variety of integrations.

 

Self-Paced Hands on Labs

  • SPL-PRT-1671 – Self-service data protection using the EMC Plugin for vRealize Automation and Avamar
    Can I do my own backups and restores? Yes, yes you can. Learn how you can use the EMC Plugin for vRealize Automation for user level backup and file level restores of your virtual machines.
  • SPL-SDC-1606 – Cloud 101 – Deliver your Infrastructure as a Service
    This introductory lab demonstrates the first steps in the journey to a Software Defined Enterprise by implementing all components of vCloud Suite Standard, which focuses on the core features and functions of vSphere, vCenter, vRealize Operations Manager and vRealize Automation. This is an excellent place to begin your Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) experience by moving from the world of traditional templates to blueprints that enable automated infrastructure delivery.

 

  • SPL-SDC-1621 – vRealize Automation 101: Application and Infrastructure Delivery and DevOps with Code Stream.
    This lab will demonstrate the ability to use vRealize Automation to rapidly automate the deployment and management of a variety of IT services and applications.  It will also show how vRealize Code Stream provides release automation and continuous delivery. It covers key features of vRealize Automation, including use cases from the perspectives of the consumers, business managers and administrators.  You will also explore the integrations with vRealize Application Services and vRealize Code Stream, and review tenant configuration.
  • SPL-SDC-1624 – VMware NSX and the vRealize Suite
    This NSX lab covers integration of NSX with components of the vRealize Suite to deliver on the Software Defined Datacenter. Integration of NSX with Management components like vRealize Automation (vRA), vRealize Operations (vROPs) and vRealize Log Insight is covered in this lab.
  • SPL-SDC-1632 – vRealize Automation Advanced: Integration and Extensibility.
    This advanced lab will explore out-of-the-box integrations with other vRealize Suite products, and you will learn all about extending the provisioning life-cycle for many common use cases. Using vRealize Orchestrator and its plugins, you will learn how to implement custom host naming and integration with Infoblox and Puppet. You will explore the vRealize Automation API.
