That is, of course, if you’re paying attention to the latest and greatest report from IDC, crowning VMware king of the WW cloud systems management software market in 2013.
For those not familiar with how IDC determines who owns the lion’s share of the cloud systems management software market, it’s based on examining leading vendor shares and market trends from the previous year (in this case, 2012) reflected in the portions of revenue reported in the following functional markets:
- Workload scheduling and automation (distributed server/workload automation submarket only)
- Change and configuration management
- Performance management
- Event management
- Problem management
After examining leading vendor revenues in 2012 — cue the We Are The Champions music — IDC ranked VMware #1 based on garnering 20.5% market share and estimated revenues of $247.5 million.
To provide more color on why VMware reigned supreme, we commissioned the very talented folk from Column Five Media to bring this report to life, visually speaking. To view the results of this collaboration, check out the infographic below.
We’re absolutely thrilled and honored to be at the top of IDC’s list of cloud management leaders. One thing’s for sure, it’s definitely not lonely up here. This is one parade we’re happy to reign on!
