In today’s workplace, flexibility is key. Whether it is flexibility in how employees choose to work, or in how IT departments manage and scale resources to meet changing business needs, delivering solutions to help businesses be their best is at the heart of all Dell technologies. In talking with customers, we are hearing that they are looking for ways to embrace this flexibility, but need a solution that keeps their data secure, that is easy to deploy and manage, and that allows them to scale out as their business grows.
An effective converged infrastructure solution provides organizations with this flexibility while giving them the security and management capabilities that they need, and we are working closely with VMware on the upcoming Horizon Air Hybrid-Mode solution to meet these customer needs.
Horizon Air Hybrid-Mode provides businesses with a greater selection of management options in their VDI environments by offering a cloud-based management plane to simplify management, while also increasing the time to value and scalability. Customers just starting out on their cloud journey can implement a flexible strategy, whether based on a public cloud, private cloud, or a combination of both.
Dell worked with VMware on a 90-day beta testing program for Horizon Air Hybrid-Mode based on Dell hardware. Through this program, organizations from a variety of industries, including education, healthcare, finance, and Fortune 500, had the exclusive opportunity to work with the solution and evaluate the cost and management benefits provided. The benefits the organizations enjoyed were certainly significant. Outcomes included:
- Set up initial desktops and applications in less than an hour
- Deployed 2000 virtual desktops in under 20 minutes
- Broker deployment and installation bits were downloaded from the cloud management plane automatically, reducing TCO
And, ultimately, they were able to cost-effectively achieve seamless desktop and application virtualization management.
