In my last blog post, I talked about new RDP VC Bridge SDK (software development kit). To recap:
“This SDK is intended for ISVs who have applications that today run on Microsoft RDP using the RDP WTS APIs. By simply recompiling and linking their code with the header and library files included in the SDK, ISVs can quickly enable their applications to run over the PCoIP protocol on VMware Horizon View.”
Today, I am excited to announce that Tricerat Inc. has successfully employed the SDK to enable their Simplify Scanning™ to work with PCoIP in VMware® Horizon View™.
This means that Horizon View users who need document scanner capabilities can deploy Tricerat’s Simplify Scanning to redirect their local-attached scanner to their Horizon View desktop. In this way, they can benefit from a reduced bandwidth utilization as well as faster document scan times. Tests have shown a 4x improvement in scan speed over USB redirection.
For the system administrator, scanner redirection simplifies virtual desktop management by removing the need to manage multiple device drivers on the Horizon View desktop images. Device drivers will only be needed on the Horizon View client endpoints that the scanners are attached to.
Please to contact your VMware sales representative or Tricerat for more information. Are you using PCoIP on Horizon View? Tell us more on Twitter and Facebook!
