The VMware End-User Computing team attended the Gartner Digital Workplace Summit June 12–13, 2023, in San Diego, California. We joined almost 1,000 attendees — including digital workplace leaders, architects, and IT executives — who came from around the world to learn about future trends, current tools, and what it means to deliver a great digital employee experience (DEX).
What we learned at DWS 2023
Right away, we learned that IT leaders have a large role in how employees are empowered to work. In Gartner’s opening session, we learned that CIOs have more influence on positive employee experience than CHROs. The tools CIOs and other IT decision makers select and implement have a great impact on an employee’s day-to-day work experience.
Here are three key ways for IT and other leaders to change work for the better:
- Implement a DEX strategy.
- Increase digital skills.
- Connect everything to value.
VMware Anywhere Workspace at DWS 2023
As a premier sponsor, VMware hosted a thought leadership breakout session on the first day of the summit. Marshall Anne Busbee, VMware EUC Director of Product Marketing, shared insights into the true ROI of DEX in “Digital Employee Experience (DEX) Tools Optimize the Impact of Technology.” This was a timely message as many attendees were learning the importance of investing in digital employee experience to solve their ongoing challenges in supporting hybrid and frontline work.
During our VMware session, we shared the most important DEX benefits that our Anywhere Workspace solution offers:
- holistic visibility of employee experience,
- cost savings due to shorter support ticket mean time to resolution (MTTR),
- hardware planning optimization,
- and improved employee perception of IT
Key takeaways from DWS 2023
Our VMware EUC team was thrilled to meet with customers and partners at our booth during the event. Our subject matter experts met with attendees one-on-one, answered questions, and did live demonstrations of our DEX solutions: Workspace ONE Digital Employee Experience Management (DEEM) and Workspace ONE Assist.
Here are some of the key findings from our booth interactions:
- Many attendees were excited to find out about VMware’s capabilities in DEX. We had a flow of attendees coming to our booth asking to learn more after Marshall Anne’s session.
- Our “Enable Proactive IT” message was well received. Participants were interested in VMware’s DEEM solution feature that proactively sends alerts for experience score changes, as well as in its ability to integrate with ServiceNow.
- Our most requested demos were for the ITSM Connector with ServiceNow and the Notification Builder feature. The ITSM Connector empowers service desks with an integrated platform for experience data and remediation actions. With the Notification Builder, IT can quickly build, deliver, and measure employee engagement by sending communications or micro-surveys to personnel.
- Leaders who saw Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub for the first time were impressed by this one-stop shop for end-user experience.
