ESG Analyses the Economic Benefits of VMware Workspace ONE Access Cloud-hosted

As many organizations rethink how they approach remote working and the security and device management implications, ESG (a leading research and advisory organization) has released their economic validation paper analyzing the benefits of Workspace ONE Access in a hosted deployment model.

Workspace ONE Access

ESG conducted in-depth interviews with organizations that are currently using VMware’s cloud-hosted Workspace ONE Access. The organizations came from healthcare, financial services and technology and all had more than 10,000 users. What they found were benefits that will resonate with organizations that are assessing their future workforce strategy and the impacts on IT security. These include:

1. Fast time to value

2. Reduced IT operational complexity

3. Consistent and simplified end-user experience

As we’ve discussed many times before in our blogs, IT organizations have been responding to the breakdown of the traditional network perimeter, moving instead to a Zero Trust model of IT security that considers:

• Device Trust

• User Trust

• Transport / Session Trust

• Application Trust

• Data Trust

Workspace ONE Access

Workspace ONE Access delivers access management, authentication and single sign-on capabilities integrating with Workspace ONE UEM to combine device trust with user trust information. This enables organizations to easily move past vulnerable and costly usernames and passwords to a passwordless approach, delivering risk-based conditional access that is intrinsic to Workspace ONE, supporting Zero Trust initiatives.

Although Workspace ONE Access is available both on-premises and hosted, ESG specifically considered the hosted implementation. As with many hosted services, their in-depth interviews with current customers uncovered the financial and operational benefits realized by not having to own and update the infrastructure. It also showed that organizations realized dramatic time savings in being able to deploy new applications to users through Intelligent Hub.
