Made by Google ’19: Google Announces 2nd Generation Pixelbook

Google just wrapped up its Made by Google event where it debuted its newest consumer hardware offerings. While the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones headlined the event, we also learned about a variety of other exciting new devices. Among them was the Pixelbook Go, Google’s latest Chrome OS-powered laptop and first such device since the Pixelbook line launched in 2017. The Pixelbook Go is a high-performance addition to an already compelling stable of Chrome OS devices that are well-suited for both personal and business use.

In the enterprise, Chrome OS provides users with unmatched simplicity, speed, and security across a wide selection of devices. The cloud-based platform enables increased productivity through automatic backups and updates as well as giving users easy access to enterprise applications and information. It also protects sensitive information with enterprise-grade security and data protection from the hardware up. Even better, these powerful capabilities are available across a variety of form factors and price points to allow businesses to select the hardware that best fits employees’ needs.

Modern Management with Chrome and Workspace ONE

VMware was the first UEM vendor to support Chrome OS management and help businesses get the best out of this platform. Combining Chrome with VMware Workspace ONE allows organizations to maximize their potential by improving productivity and offering greater visibility and management of endpoints. Employees benefit from one-touch, consolidated access to web, SaaS, native, or virtual apps through the Workspace ONE unified app catalog and can access virtual desktops for access to legacy apps with VMware Horizon.

From an IT perspective, Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) enables management of Chrome OS alongside all other endpoints throughout the entire device lifecycle using the unified platform for streamlined deployment, remote troubleshooting, and reporting. Workspace ONE also supports multiple use cases and admins can deploy corporate devices, shared devices, or configure Chrome devices to be used for kiosks or digital signage.

Better Together: Chrome OS + Workspace ONE

The flexibility and value of Chrome OS and the comprehensive endpoint management capabilities of Workspace ONE enable employees to securely access the apps and information they need to be productive while streamlining IT operations.

Ready for Enterprise with Chrome Enterprise Upgrade

It is a truly exciting time for Chrome devices in the enterprise market. At VMworld 2019 in August, Dell launched the new Dell Latitude Chromebook Enterprise line – high powered devices with the simplicity users have come to expect from Chromebooks and built-in business benefits of a Chrome Enterprise Upgrade (management, security, work data access). Workspace ONE adds unified management capabilities for Chrome OS to Dell Technologies Unified Workspace for comprehensive support of the new Latitude Chromebook Enterprise without requiring the purchase of an additional Chrome Enterprise License.
