What’s New with Horizon Cloud

We are excited to announce the latest release of the Horizon Cloud Service which supports our fully managed solution from VMware on IBM Cloud and BYO infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. Since we launched this solution over two years ago, we have made significant updates to the service based on customer feedback and demand. In our last release, we came out with support for NSX Cloud on Horizon Cloud on Microsoft Azure which allows organizations to further secure their virtual desktops using micro-segmentation.

In our latest release, we are introducing a number of features that enhance your user experience and support additional use cases.

Horizon Cloud on Microsoft Azure

Horizon Cloud on Microsoft Azure – vGPU support for Windows 10 virtual desktops using Microsoft Azure NV Series VMs.

For organizations looking to support knowledge workers, engineers, and designers, as well as graphics intensive applications that employees use to stay productive, we now support vGPU enabled Windows 10 virtual desktops.

By leveraging vGPU in a virtualized environment, organizations can drive better user experiences.   Essentially, Horizon Cloud on Microsoft Azure with vGPU support can help ensure that end users can get the experience of a physical desktop in a virtualized environment.

Workspace ONE mode enhancements

When administrators enable Workspace ONE mode, users can only access their Horizon desktops through Workspace ONE.  This creates a more secure method for users to access their virtual desktops.   Users simply go to the Workspace ONE portal and see their virtual desktops from there.

With Workspace ONE mode enabled, end-users no longer have the option to start remote desktops or applications through HTML access.

Support for Microsoft Windows 10 1809 for VDI desktops.

With this new feature, use of Microsoft Windows 10 1703 is deprecated for new pods and pods upgraded to this release.  VMware is dedicated to ensuring support for the latest Microsoft OS’s.

We are following the same cadence as Horizon 7.  For more details, please check out the Knowledge Base article.
