AirWatch 9.1.3 EMM Features
The VMware AirWatch team is excited to announce that AirWatch 9.1.3 is now publicly available!
New! Deploy Custom Bootstrap Packages for macOS
Typically, during device enrollment, the AirWatch Agent handles the download and installation of application files. In AirWatch 9.1.3, bootstrap packages provide a way around this requirement.
Bootstrap a package to an enrollment flow to enable device and app management tools besides the AirWatch Agent. Post-enrollment, the package installs the alternate tool. Using the MDM command
InstallApplication,
bootstrap packages natively install .pkg files and push configurations to the device.
Create a Bootstrap Package
[box]
- Use a tool to create the bootstrap package
- Sign with an appropriate certificate, such as a TLS/SSL certificate with signing usage. Since the Apple Gatekeeper does not check apps installed through MDM, only the package requires signing.
- Use a distribution package (product archive), not a flat component package.[/box]
Deploy a Bootstrap Package
[box]
- Unmanaged Devices – Packages automatically deploy post-enrollment.
- Managed Devices – Packages do not deploy by default. Instead, queue managed devices in the package’s Assigned Devices list. [/box]
For more information, see Deploy a Bootstrap Package.
New! DEP Token Enrollment via the Self-Service Portal
One EMM feature included in AirWatch Console 9.1.3 is support for a new DEP enrollment flow! Now, end users can generate their own DEP enrollment tokens in the AirWatch Self-Service Portal. This method allows organizations with a large amount of DEP devices to use one-time enrollment tokens to assign devices.
Enable DEP Token Enrollment from the Self-Service Portal
[box]
- Enable the Self-Service Portal for end users.
- Ensure end users have their device serial number and other required enrollment information.[/box]
For more information, see Alternate DEP Device Enrollment Flows.
New! Knox Play for Work
Use AirWatch to push Samsung Knox public applications inside the Knox container. These applications have the same functionality as their Google Play counterparts.
Enable Knox Play for Work
[box]
- Access the Google Play Store from the AirWatch Console.
- Add and approve applications for Samsung Knox integration. [/box]
For more information, see Public Applications for Samsung Knox Container.
New! Report Devices with Applications and User Details
This new report details the devices, users and applications in your AirWatch Console.
In the AirWatch Console, the New tag in front of the report name identifies new reports. These reports combine multiple deprecated reports. The latest console release includes a new report that returns data on users, devices and applications.
This table shows the available columns for the new Application Details by Device report.
