VMware App Volumes VMware Horizon

Introducing the VMware App Volumes JustStart program for services partners

Managing published app environments can be challenging because of the time, infrastructure maintenance, and costs required to manage the lifecycle of applications. VMware App Volumes provides an app lifecycle management solution to help IT teams reduce both time and costs spent managing published apps. To further simplify published app deployment and management we have introduced a new App Volumes feature called “Apps on Demand” that works across VMware Horizon Apps, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, and Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop Environments. Apps on Demand allows IT admins to attach apps to published app hosts whenever a user needs a published app. Apps on Demand can also be used when apps are attached to multiple app hosts, resulting in less time IT must spend managing those apps.

To help customers get started with Apps on Demand, we are excited to announce the App Volumes “JustStart” program for services partners.

What is JustStart?

Our JustStart program will help our end-user computing services partners empower customers on their published application delivery and image management journey. Leveraging best practices from VMware and its partners, customers can now do a pilot with our services partners to deliver 10 published apps in 20 days.

What are the benefits of JustStart for customers?

This end-to-end app delivery and management program will show how Apps on Demand can transform the way customers manage their apps and Windows images. Here are a few of the many benefits of JustStart:

  • Low cost or completely funded proof of concept. Depending on the number of applications in the initial scope, we will help customers run pilots at a low or no cost. Customers can take advantage of some great partner funding programs including Microsoft’s End Customer Investment Funds (ECIF) program and VMware’s Customer Lifecycle Incentive (CLI) funds.
  • Complete services and support. Customers will receive a slew of services including auto app discovery from Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (using Rimo3), auto app capturing and packaging, app modernization (using Microsoft MSIX or App Volumes format), and functional smoke testing. Other key aspects of app life cycle management from App Volumes will be introduced as well.
  • Ramp up to onboard into production. Finally, before the pilot is even finished, the VMware services partner will demonstrate value through the eliminated app packaging effort, faster deployment of apps, lower infrastructure spend, and simplified Day 2 operations. At the pilot’s end, our services partner will walk customers through the agreed upon goals and achievements. Plus, they will identify any actionable next steps for production.

What are the benefits of JustStart for VMware services partners?

We are invested in the success of our valuable VMware partners. The following are some of the benefits that services partners will receive as part of the JustStart program.

  • Technical team training. VMware will train partners’ technical teams on VMware App Volumes, including Apps on Demand and solutions from other partners. This technical training will provide an overview of App Volumes, its components, and how to deploy App Volumes in a customer’s environment.
  • Funding assistance. Services partners will learn how to leverage various funding programs, such as Microsoft ECIF and VMware CLI funds. These funding options will help cover the pilot costs — either partially or completely.
  • Easy-to-use templates. VMware will provide simple and executable app delivery templates that can be implemented on the first day of this program. These templates are developed by us based on our experience working with hundreds of our customers. They will help mitigate most of the potential risks encountered during app delivery and management.
  • Greater app delivery knowledge. Services partner IT teams will learn how easy it is to deliver 10 published apps in 20 days using Apps on Demand.
